Well, try a couple and see what works for you. There are a lot of tutorials on deviantART. Unfortunately I can only really give advice on my own style, but I'm happy to do that if you want.

Well, I thought your antler lady drawing was cute, so I painted it as an exercise. Sorry for messing with your stuff!
Do you mind if I turn it into a tutorial? I used a bunch of layers so I could show WIPs in case they were helpful to you, but they might be helpful for other people too. I don't know that my painting style is correct or whatever, but it works for me, anyway.

Try adding some strand lines that go parallel to the direction of the hair, like on your antler lady drawing, and use those as a guide for shading.
