My 1st & 2nd Attempt at FL Studio

Hey guys, thought I'd submit my first attempt at making a tune using Fruityloops Studio.

Its called Death-Toll, and is basically an ominous sounding boss theme. I think it kinda gives the impression of 'why are you here; you're not going to win this fight'.

Get it from Rapidshare HERE
Its an mp3, runs for 3:31, and is 3.3 mb. (lots of 3!)

That said, considering its my first tune ever, it probably still needs alot of work- I'm pretty certain that I went a bit overboard with those strings. If you think its complete cack, don't be afraid to say so. :(
-----------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Hey there; I completed another battle tune because I was bored.
This'll be my second piece. I call it Warhammer. Its certainly a totally different beast to the first one. No nice canon-ish introduction of channels in this one, it slams from the get go; and is almost Metal in style.

Get it from Rapidshare HERE
Again, its an mp3, it runs for 3:05, and is 2.9 mb.

Again, all comments on it much appreciated...! :thumb:

Strings don't bother me as much as the tempo changes do between audio loops. They don't quite match up or something. Hard to put my finger on it exactly.

For a first song it's quite good, I like the bass that starts in the middle of the song, reminds me Blade runner. Keep going on!... My only suggestion is
basically the mixing part. Put every instrument in a separate channel in the mixer in FL studio and then per exemple, add some reverb(you can use the presets for now) to the strings, it should give more depth to the melody.
That's all for now
Good luck!

It's very nice for a first tune, keep making more like these.
Cheers, glad you like it.

Hmm? I don't ~think~ the tempo changes; though it is perhaps true that some the channels are not natural bedfellows. The one I call 'heartbeat bass', especially, doesn't get used much except at the start, being mainly replaced with the 'Mr.Punchs Bass' Channel in the Midst of the song, and the 'Sweet Guitar' riff later on.

For the most part, the instruments are on seperate channels (except most of the toms, which are lumped together; and there are 12 channels total, not including that 'Main Automation' one) and some of the sounds have modified pitch and suchlike. Don't think I played with the Reverb much though...

Hah! I laughed when I heard the Fruity Drum Loop at the start.

It sounds a bit evil, sure, but I do enjoy it, for a first tune. Keep working at it!

( I might listen to second one after, I dunno. )
