man im gonna level with you; I the last few tracks than some of the stuff youve written before. Honestly, thats not bad at all; it shows youre improving. My only huge qualm still is that you arent getting the basis of some minor music theory arrangements, and that is to say that you arent really capturing some essential elements of chords and harmonies. Its coming along though, so im not complaining.
I think trying to change your style is a bad idea though, so I really wouldnt listen to some people who are telling you to re-vamp your shit entirely. I like your style, honestly. Its catchy and fun to listen to! The problem is, that is not entirely dynamic or memorable, and a majority is essentially the same. Keeping the style of music is one thing, but keeping the same style of one song is another. Your melodies usually last around 5-10 seconds before a one-track beat replaces them. Branch out a bit more! Use more instrumental harmonies to back up your melodies! Its seriously coming along man, which is nice to see.
As for individually critiquing your stuff, the opening theme sounds better than most of what youve written, but it sounds very lifeless in instrumentation. The piano is a NICE counter melody man, and how you incorporate all of the layers is cool too. I honestly dont like the trumpet sf, its sounds a tad tacky and has random spurts of percussive like elements. Again, the melody isnt that memorable. The piano sounds catchy though. Make it a little more beefy; add more depth within your harmonies (well, you dont have any so add some first!). I like this one though.
The brink of time is solid. I wish the percussion wasnt so basic, but the brass harmony is ON SPOT. It layers perfectly at 0:28-0:47, which is really cool. Try to change keys in this one, or play with it a while. The pizzicato strings help make the smooth and somber point, bring those out a bit more. Also, maybe im crazy, but it sounds like the piano has some sour notes? O_O This one was pretty good though.
Revelation was my least favorite out of the three, but all in all I like how you kept your style in it. The snap percussion is fine, its melody I was concerned about; there isnt much of anything there in a stylistic sense of listening, it sounds very random, like elevator music that you jam to then instantly forget. Add some background instruments to this one and youll come along well.
Overall: much better man. Im glad to see this coming along better and hearing some major tonal differences than before. Keep up the good work.
