lol this isnt a finished piece of music but it'll definetely give u the creepies.... mwahaha "the mystery of wormwood"

This music will be set in the the area of the game where a nuclear explosion has caused multiple abominations including zombies, mutated animals, and chimeras. the players are brought into the area once the coalition forces are unable to contain the zombie outbreak that was triggered by massive amounts of concentrated radiation in the earths water by the explosion caused at chernobyl's nuclear site .

EDIT: UPDATED VERSION WILL BE ONLINE SOON

my major problem with your music isnt that its not bad, its that its HIGHLY REPETITIVE and lackluster man. It sounds like elevator music. Now, not all of it is like that, but the majority is enough to drive people away who might want to play your game. Learn some chords and major harmonies man, without that your music will just sound like rhythms and a shell of what it could be.

you should come on #music on irc sometime man, perhaps i could show you some stuff to beef your music with. atm it sounds very simple, like anime background music or something.

good luck with this!

also to echo whats already been said: LEARN PIANO. It is the basis of pretty much all musical instrumentation and can seriously help you in composing.

New youtube video uploaded of my piece "Opening Theme" for SOTS set to a graphic I just finished up in paint.net.... enjoy!

man im gonna level with you; I the last few tracks than some of the stuff youve written before. Honestly, thats not bad at all; it shows youre improving. My only huge qualm still is that you arent getting the basis of some minor music theory arrangements, and that is to say that you arent really capturing some essential elements of chords and harmonies. Its coming along though, so im not complaining.

I think trying to change your style is a bad idea though, so I really wouldnt listen to some people who are telling you to re-vamp your shit entirely. I like your style, honestly. Its catchy and fun to listen to! The problem is, that is not entirely dynamic or memorable, and a majority is essentially the same. Keeping the style of music is one thing, but keeping the same style of one song is another. Your melodies usually last around 5-10 seconds before a one-track beat replaces them. Branch out a bit more! Use more instrumental harmonies to back up your melodies! Its seriously coming along man, which is nice to see.

As for individually critiquing your stuff, the opening theme sounds better than most of what youve written, but it sounds very lifeless in instrumentation. The piano is a NICE counter melody man, and how you incorporate all of the layers is cool too. I honestly dont like the trumpet sf, its sounds a tad tacky and has random spurts of percussive like elements. Again, the melody isnt that memorable. The piano sounds catchy though. Make it a little more beefy; add more depth within your harmonies (well, you dont have any so add some first!). I like this one though.

The brink of time is solid. I wish the percussion wasnt so basic, but the brass harmony is ON SPOT. It layers perfectly at 0:28-0:47, which is really cool. Try to change keys in this one, or play with it a while. The pizzicato strings help make the smooth and somber point, bring those out a bit more. Also, maybe im crazy, but it sounds like the piano has some sour notes? O_O This one was pretty good though.

Revelation was my least favorite out of the three, but all in all I like how you kept your style in it. The snap percussion is fine, its melody I was concerned about; there isnt much of anything there in a stylistic sense of listening, it sounds very random, like elevator music that you jam to then instantly forget. Add some background instruments to this one and youll come along well.

Overall: much better man. Im glad to see this coming along better and hearing some major tonal differences than before. Keep up the good work.

Most of these tracks reminds me a lot of my early days in Fruity Loops. Anyone who tells any starting composer to change their style probably haven't gone through it themselves. It takes time, and a lot of time to build a 'style' and it mainly starts with songs like this. I can definitely remember making plenty of tracks that were empty and lacking a lot of elements, but creating as many themes as your inspirational juices allow you to only helps you to improve.

One advice would be (if you don't already have one) is to get a keyboard or a midi controller and play around with it. I got really sick with clicking and guessing melodies as I composed and I approached it from actually playing pieces and record them through a controller interface. Did I change stylistically? Somewhat (mainly because the stuff I composed by clicking weren't really doable or comfortable to play on keys :x) but it helped me open up to new chords and ways to approach rhythm/Melodies.

Just keep experimenting. You will definitely improve. :]

New Song uploaded, this one is basically a remake of Brink of Time, without the darker melody included. When this music is playing, basically David is leading a huge group of followers and warriors through a contanimated zombie wasteland that has been hit by bio nukes, where even the atmosphere itself is ripping and falling apart. To shield from the radiation, him and and his group are charging spiritual energy with prayr towards Yahweh to create a barrier type forcefield to navigate the post apocalyptic land.
