let me know if you like them and want me to post more! I'm getting good at composing music, and if anyone with the proper skillz on this site wants to help me create this game hit me up!!

no i'm not REAL familiar with chords and scales yet but i'll youtube it for sure, nah only instrument i EVER played was tha trumpet in like the 5th grade lol, that was a failure..

So i think you must learn few things firs in order to composy good stuff:
1. Keys
2. Basic Chords
3. Understandment of how major instruments work

you can salf learn this, as i did :>

I've listened through some of your songs a while back and now again. It's not so much of a lesson of keys chords when you're in the experimental stage. The first three songs were very 'unportraying' and extremely subtle, which is why I like Shadow of Nibiru. It's a slight improvement from the first. Later on you'll realize that you will have to work on everything megatronx mentioned and listen to OSTs. Breath of Fire V, Xenosaga, etc.

Hi Soulwake. I've listened to your songs. They sound raw, I think they need polishing in regards to arrangement, sound, mixing, and mastering. If you learn a a lot about composing & sound, I'm sure your songs will be great. It seems that you don't know music theory, just like me.

I learn to make music with my ear, my feelings and my brain. I listen to my favorite musicians and I try to re-create what they did, every little details. It's really hard and quite a headache, but in the process, I learned a lot of good things.

I think that you should improve and learn in whichever way you like and enjoy. Shadow of Nibiru is indeed better than the rest. Keep up the good work, and let's try our best to be a better musician ^^

The most important advice i can give you is to listen to other soundtracks. I listened to the Tekken OSTs then I immediately got some crazy ideas. Also you need to learn scales, the cool thing is; they really are not hard to learn. If i were you I would visit this address: http://www.looknohands.com/chordhouse/piano/

It has every scale and every known to man (maybe a few known to Martians).

Also if you are serious about music, then you wont mine putting a percentage of your paycheck into it. You might want to buy some instruments so you can learn them. Or some software and hardware. I cannot give you specifics because I have a low budget setup myself. Go visit emusician.com, they have plenty of articles that will make you better.

You need to understand how other instruments play. I looked up solos from many different instruments, as an end result i learned some cool licks that i integrated in my music.

You only need to learn BASIC music theory to compose. I couldn't teach it to you, but google is your friend. You have to be hungry for knowledge and search for answers. This may be a little cliche however: no matter what it is you are doing, you cannot give up. I always seem to be in producers block, but I get out of it eventually.

Keep up the good work, Peace.

@ megatronx, shizu -ya i've youtubed some old osts I really liked, Xenosaga was great, im gonna listen to a few others as well tonight and see what happens, but when you mentioned learning some of the basics i rememberd how i jumpd into flstudio. Thats basically the foundation i need to build with then right?

@clea - ya thats what i did with Nibiru and why it turnd out much better, mixing and mastering is a must with all these really, just wips. but when i get in that flow it is alot easier to produce music I see what you mean thanks for the tips

@decibel - the sites sound really usefull, as well as listening to those solos to understand specific instruments like the others mentiond before, appreciated

again thanks for all the info! this will give me a great foundation to work from in developing my sound, you guys were a major help,

by the way, these tracks you uploaded are great for your skill level, it took me awhile to make tracks that good. but you still have to be hungry for knowledge to get better.

Added new song! Check it out and comment

7. The Morning Star -
-Theme played in the snowy/frozen lake area where you have to thaw out and raise the (Water Temple). (((This is where one of your close friends is imprisoned after a powerful demon freezes her heart)))

-This theme is played on the (Floating Continent of Philadelphia) that is broken away and levitated after the earth enters and leaves a huge magnetic storm. (((This is a safe haven of sorts where the players can transport via save portals on earth to research and place scrolls in the massive library. The Continent is enshrouded by unbreakable crystal above the earth and is actually itself a tymeportal that allows you to travel between 3 different times, and also houses the revival point where the dead are raised by God when being defeated in battle)))

9-01-09 ADDED 2 NEW SONGs "RIVER OF THE DAMNED" (WIP) and "STAR OF DAVID" TO SOULWAKE PLAYLIST

http://www.myspace.com/soulwake777

8. River of the Damned (wip)
-On tha path to Nibiru you are forced to fight through the river of souls that are being absorbed into the machine planet, its pretty wickd!

9. Star of David (wip)
-Played when the Star of David surfaces in the game on November 8, 2003(really happened too), as a sign from God.

and thanks to everyone who mentiond listening to osts!! BIG HELP i'm starting to understand how the commercial games piece the music together now. only problem is i'm working with STOCK fl studio, but here in a month i plan on buying some instrument packs so hopefully that will help too. anybody else on here work with fl studio?

UPDATE: 9/12/09 - ADDED NEW SONG "THE BRINK OF TIME" TO SOULWAKE PLAYLIST

http://www.myspace.com/soulwake777

10. The Brink of Time
-Played while fighting through the wasteland on the journey to the giant watchtower (like a mile high) where the final transformation and ressurection of Lucifer, the prince of air, is taking place. (His very elect fallen angels have constructed a gigantic watchtower in the middle of the crater that was produced when wormwood hit the earth. the wasteland around the crater is actually caving into the earth and lava is surfacing on the earth) Lucifer has spent eons scouring the galaxy laying waste to planets and stars alike on his search for earth. at this point in the game you can actualy see the stars around earth exploding(falling from heaven). (these are the stars lucifer has destroyed light years ago but are only now being seen on earth)

Hey, how about NOT advertising your MySpace page and just post links to the mp3s? Please and thank you dood

how about stfu ;) blink_~

@dood - its all good :X

i got 3 more songs up for critique, i'm trying to find a place in the game for the last 2 so please any suggestions would be awesome! I ran out of space on my other myspace music account so i had to use my old one for these tracks! heres the link

http://www.myspace.com/dsoulja85music

the first one
Open Up Shop - is just what the name implies, when you walk into weapon shops this one will play, he'll have a radio jammin on the counter most likely, i know some people dont like hip hop beats but it will fit the environment, i wont have too many like this

Give it 2 ya Proper - soley hip hop at the moment but i wanna make it more epic and longer where it will fit maybe a forest/water environment.

Hella-hi - I contemplated on using this for a character theme but i thought about possibly ussing it for when you level up or as a victory theme? any suggestions where to use it other than thatt? thanks for taking the time you guys!

EDIT: Added 1 more to my other myspace page entitled Shrooms
http://www.myspace.com/soulwake777
- it has a bit of a guitar that i really need to replace with a better one, i only have slayer 1 :( This will probably be a field map theme of some sort

I love the use of sirens in "Ruinz of Babylon." It really adds to it.
Your music seems to be more focused on the percussive aspect. It might be fun to experiment with the rhythm a bit more.

I'm just starting the composition for my game project myself, so I can't really say anything too harsh. :P

Good luck with the project. It sounds like fun. :)
