Mrgl-Mrgl.com what the hell?

So i was catching up on all of my G4 website videos and came across this. In there about half way they talk about a website called mrgl-mrgl.com a WoW search engine and they showed a picture of it, and there i saw it...a piece of pixel art that I had did about two years ago. The website got so much traffic when it launched that it broke the effing servers. Its slightly edited but I know my work when i see it. Heres the image i did:

I dont mind them using it, its actually kind of flattering. :haha:

Dear badmonur,

I am the owner of Mrgl-Mrgl.com. I assure you that I meant absolutly no harm towards you nor your image if any was percieved. Mrgl-Mrgl.com was a non-funded, non-ad, non-profit programming experiment. In fact the actual site wasn't supposed to even be live. The picture that was used without your permission was used because I had no way of contacting the original artist of it. To my knowledge where it was found it was depicted under another forum, which was covered by the Creative Commoners Act.

I did however, which that screenshot does not depict, have a link for About, which stated that the logo used, was created by an Unknown World of Warcraft Pixel Artist. As well as a link pertaining to where it was found.

The search engine itself is a new technology being explored for a project known as Pond. Pond will be the end all free WoW headquarters, which is working on plans with several other web technologies.

I have sent you a PM also, and would love to have you onboard as a pixel artist if you are the original author. This is a paid position, and I assure you, you will be gifted nicely.

Thank you,

Mark, King Mrgl Mrgl

I dont really see any discussion in it that cant be handled over a pm, that's why, but if you want to keep it open that's cool. d:eek:

I actually am glad this thread was even started. We plan on launching the newly designed version. The actual project was an exploration in tearing apart the game files, then indexing them and comparing them from other websites. It was if you can imagine, a google for World of Warcraft. However while coding it, I commented out a simple line for stress testing which was the IP range which was allowed to access it.

Soon, Google crawled it, and the link went live while I was on vacation. To my suprise it exploded since it was very useful by many. It was so good it destroyed my bandwidth and then the next hosts bandwidth when it went back up.

This forum helped me get in contact with the artist, and that makes me a little giddy since now I will be able to employ a very talented artist.

Thank you HBGames.

Also, for you members, I setup a temporary inbox. As a thank you, I would love to invite you to the beta which starts very shortly. To get your key please send off an email to hbgames.beta@mrgl-mrgl.com . you can use a disposal email or whatever you would like, just make sure you can access it around the 1st of January to get your temp key. That email WILL be added to a mailing list, however it will not be sold off. You will be joining about 4,000 other members in Project Pond.
