Moving grass - first layer autotile

My first attempt. I was trying to make a grass autotile that swayed in the wind... and it looks pretty good... if it's a really strong wind. I'll keep working and see what I come up with for a gentler breeze. Also, a quick cut and paste would make this two different looking autotiles for tall grass (since download manager is offline).

Any suggestions? Should I try making a more rounded or random looking patch?
Also, it doesn't work quite like the other autotiles. If I place only one tile, it shows up as plain (short) grass. Place another right next to it, and it makes a very thin line of tall grass. (like the thin paths that some of the road autotiles make.) I actually like the effect, but why did it do that?

"Why did it do that?" When an autotile makes a 1tile width row, it uses the right half of the right tiles and the left half of the left tiles, and combines them.

Not bad work.

Interesting. I might find use out of this, despite the fact that the autotile animations can be kind of stiff and you can't edit their speeds in XP. I'm about as curious as gratheo as to why it does those problems you pointed out. Nice work, though.

Whoops... did I sound curious? I was trying to answer his question. I spent a little while once and learned all about how the game handles the autotiles.

More likely a fault of mine. Sometimes I have a bad habit of misunderstanding what people post. Sorry.

glad you guys like it. I'd like to improve the animation, though. how does rmxp animate the tiles? left to right, then jump back to the left (1,2,3,4,1,2...)? Once I've got that done, I'm going to recolor it. I'd really like to have some "amber waves of grain" going on in my game.

p.s. "she"... not "he". ;)

Generall it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4....  So most times you have to make a small animations that progresses back to 1...

Uh I hope that made sense :)

yeah... oops, I must have accidentally saved as jpg. I'll remember to save it as png when I edit it. I'm experimenting with the animation a bit, and will hopefully have a smooth animation soon.
