Mountain Tileset.

Heres the begining of a mountain tileset I'm working on. I also am merging it with the town set I'm working on.
The set itself is all over the place but I will post it with the next update but heres a screenshot for comments ideas and suggestions.

Don't mind the mapping, I'm just testing the chipset.
UPDATE to set
I added a little variations to the stones and added a edited tree by Euphony. Slightly edited again of course.

I like it but it looks too grainy right now.
But like you said, its still a work in progress.

Small question, is the small amount of green grass on the base of the mountains supposed to be there to blend alittle more with the RTP grass?

Either way good luck.

Yes about the grass. There are two bottom tiles. One with grass and one without.
I'm working on the grainyness but It is difficult. I think it's mainly because there are miscoloured pixels here and there. I hope once I colour them right it will look better. And I'm attempting to fix a few of the rock tops that just don't look right. Update soon.

I think it looks good besides a little bit of graininess, but that may be because of the screenshot and not the tileset itself.

I suggest adding a second front-facing tile that has a different pattern. Currently, its very repetitive due to its highly defined detail (whereas RTP/etc. aren't normally very detailed.) and contrast between the top of the rock and the side.

I like it. Same suggestions as the other guys. It reminds me of an old game I used to play, Asheron's Call. They had a huge area of the game that all looked like those mountains filled with tough monsters. :)

Great to see some more interesting tilesets being made.

yeah, it is good. Unlike the others, i think the grass merges well with the cliff. It could be a little darker though...

The house needs a different damage sets like cracks and holes in the wall. It would also be better if smoke was used.

All in all it's pretty good. Good work.

Thanks for the tips and comments. My computer time allowed is limited through the week but I will post an update today sometime. Again for everyone thanks for your comments.

I'm really loving the shape of the rocks , and darkening the grass really helps as well. I think what would really help is lowering the conrast of the rocks a bit. I would say edit the other tiles, but since the RTP to Original ratio is in favor of RTP your best bet is to fix up the rocks. The highlight colors for them are much too bright, giving them a sort of metalic shine . If this was your intention, disregard this critique. However, you should know that the difference in contrast between the cliff tiles and the rest of the tiles is definately the biggest issue with harmonizing the set

Look at the RTP rock you placed on the upper left. It should match that. Another thing you could do is get rid of the outline on the foot of the cliffs. In its stead, place a slight gradient from the gray on the cliffs to the green on the grass. It might also help to add little grass blades at the foot as well. If you're really into it, you can also add little grass patches on the tips of the cliff segments (Where you see the light color)

I'm having issues with the house tile personally. It seems a bit plain , but I know you have a seperate topic for that , so I'll just comment there.
