Microsoft's recent faggotry

The unfortunate thing is that most (good) computers come with Vista nowdays...

why do you buy pre-made computers? that's like taking 20%+ of the computer's price in cash, dicing it up into a powder, then snorting it up your anus.

.......... I wonder how that would feel...?

Any real retailer of computers will be able to do it for you and help you with the process.
I mean really.  Best Buy can do it, anyone can!  Many sites exist to help you with such information.  Many manufacturers such as Dell and a good majority of others can even help you via their site, with FAQs and information, plus you can order it direct from many of them.  Forums and stuff also exist to help people out so you can get honest information.

When there's information out there, there's no reason not to use it.  A comp costs money, and should be viewed as an investment.  There's no reason in the world not to research your investment.

I don't know the first thing about computers, yet I've fixed and modded mine out thousands of times, even when it comes to editing components like registries directly, inputting drivers, changing around wires, etc.  If I can do that, anyone can build their ideal computer.

if you can read a set of instructions included with the parts then you can build a PC. It's not until you start installing water cooling systems or SLI shit that stuff gets a little harder, but the normal PC-buyer isn't going to worry about that ...

also in days like these it's hard NOT to know someone who wouldn't know how to do it.

"HAHA!" I say, from my ivory OSX tower.

I remember assembling computers used to be daunting, but now I swap out parts without breaking a sweat. It's as easy as just asking around, any forum is bound to have a few people who can help you. Hell, you could go to Radio Shack, most of them have see through computers so they can point out what everything does. It's not that hard and you'll be able to build your dream PC in no time.

Yeah I TOTALLY agree with you that they should keep updating XP.... NOT
It's almost like you are saying it's stupid that Nintendo doesn't make gamecube games anymore...

Personally, I think every new operating system sucks. Let's face it, everything from 98 to Vista has had tons of problems when first released. Then, a couple major updates appear within the first couple of years, and many of the problems are solved. I've tried every operating system Windows made since 95 (So, I've used 95, 98, ME, XP, and Vista), and I like them all. They all have cool features, and they all have problems. Both ME and XP had people saying the same shit about them that they're saying about Vista. (Honestly, look up old articles on XP, and you'll see what I mean. Or, better yet, look up ME, because it never really got over the initial stigma) Also, never install XP SP3 if you don't like Vista. It has a lot of the same "problems". Personally, my favorite default feature of any operating system was one of the ones from ME, where you could give any folder a background.

Vista is slow because it was meant to be released in 2009. The only reason it was released early is because people were bitching too much about Microsoft not releasing a new OS, and it just proves that you can never satisfy people. I have looked it up, Microsoft has promised to continue support of XP until after the next OS comes out, and has only dropped support of the sales of OEM copies of XP. (but not of the product itself) (Which is why you either can't get it from a manufacturer or have to pay a premium for it)

The part i mostly hate about vista is it takes 50% cpu resources. Makes it go really slow and sluggish.
Get a better PC, knobwipe. :hercule:

On the subject of XP's inevitable death: My roommates have been running Windows 2000 Pro for ages, and their PCs aren't piles of viruses and lag death. Why, you ask? Because they continually update their third party security software!

And as far as OMG abandoning an OS that isn't in circulation anymore, shut the fawk up. If it chaps your ass so hard to see XP go (or worse, to see Vista thrive! OMG!) stick with XP or move on to a Linux distro and run WINE.

Until then, shut up, lest I set your pubic hair aflame.

Ok, I've always hated vista. I've never liked it, and that was when I wasnt using it. Now I have a new computer, and it has vista on it. I admit that it has problems, and it does use ram, and it doesn't allow you to have certain programs, but it really isn't THAT bad. Sure I still hate it, but my hatred has lowered. :P My computer has vista and is amazingly fast still. So meh.

i mussed around with vista and it pisses me off.

You're about to run an exe! DID YOU REALLY WANT TO DO THAT!?

no not really i just double clicked on it because i thought it might do the samba for me.

also yes it whores ur computer and checks all ur software to make sure u don't have any of those delightfully freer and slightly less legal versions of programs. I call that an invasion of my privacy.

I have no problems with Vista. It runs smoothly and fast for me and I haven't encountered any of those bizarre problems, and I've had Vista for a while now.

Sometimes I wonder if half of the people who say Vista sucks have even used Vista...

I finally moved over to Mac when Vista came out. Yes, I have used Vista and have always downgraded because of the enormous back end stuff, lag, and bullshit that I had to deal with. Even just the other day I had to help a buddy with a locked up computer due to vista. He might have not got the updates or something, but needless to say, I am happy with Mac OSX.

I think that most people bash on Mac OSX without even using it as well. I think it is just a preference thing. Yes, they are more expensive, and their marketing is second to none. But I truely enjoy every moment of my Mac. I still use my WinXP for stuff like RMVX, but i simply make a dual boot on my macbook. And seriously WinXP runs smoother on my macbook than any pc notebook that i have used; not to say to promote them or anything, just my experience.

Some people prefer to continue to use Windows products, but i have lost faith in the company and will only use it when i have to.

Please don't bash me, I'm not a hater, I just prefer mac over windows. And i don't hate you for still using windows, we're all not perfect. Haha, jk.

Btw, with all of the different dates shooting up about the end of WinXP, here is the run-down that I put together:

Windows XP SP3:  April 21, 2008 -> either until June 30, 2010, or one year after the availability of the next client version of Windows, code-named Windows 7 — whichever date comes later.

On April 14, 2009, Windows XP will begin its "Extended Support" period that will last for 5 years until April 8, 2014.

Windows 7: Expected January 2010

If this info is wrong, please let me know. But this is the info that I found.

I call it you can turn those features off.
