Meteor Slugs by Team Eric!

This is the thread for my game called Meteor Slugs! It's finally ready, so I want to share it with the world! of course, even after the contest is done, I'll still want to add that extra polish to it.

The game is a detective action adventure in the vein of Maniac Mansion or The Secret of Monkey Island, made with RPG Maker by me, Eric Hovis, over the past two months.

The story takes place one crazy Halloween night at the edge of the city when alien slug monsters crash land and begin to wreak havoc on the city! Your job is to save your friend from their clutches! I'll post screenshots soon, but for now, the game!

It's an interesting game. I got the cog ending, the waiting to blow up ending, the wisker ending, and the glowing key ending.
I tried playing without stepping on any slugs to see what would happen. But I failed.
Once I got the passcode and opened the door I tried going up the stairs and got stuck, I was playing as a girl that time.
Playing as the girl you don't get the item display in the corner.
 
Thanks for the input, coyotecraft! The umber of slugs you crunch doesn't affect the ending, but it will in future releases. For now it's just trivia.

I'll fix all of these issues ASAP but for the contest release here are some guidelines:

KNOWN GLITCHES:

1. Do not access the TASK menu. It's still a little glitchy and later in the game if you access it, the game freezes.

2. SAVE OFTEN.

3. A couple of issues seem related to playing as a girl, so I'll look into these but for now playing as a guy is safe.

coyotecraft, how long did it take you to beat the game? What does the save file say?
If people who play it can post their times and the name of the ending they got, I'll get a good idea for how it flows and average play length. I want to work time trials into the game somehow.
 
I had around 40 minutes my first time through. I never did find a use for some of the items like the music record or the disco ball.
Since you have multiple endings I think you should put the save back to just before you open the door in the basement. OR have a "new game +" option at the end. That way you can see what endings you've gotten like a trophy case within one savefile. Unless you use another script, you are limited to 4 save slots.
I also think making simple hand drawn sprites will look nice with your drawn backgrounds. It would go better then using the rtp graphics.

There's another weird thing I found. In the book store when you are examining things. The Dialog box will be set for whatever you last examined/talked to before entering the room.

You should put up some screen shots.
 
yeah definitely get some new sprites in there. The hand drawn settings are very nice though. I did come across one strange bug. I was able to get two colas some how while playing as the guy. I found one while looking in the rec room fridge. But it wasn't repeatable so I dunno...
 
I'm working on fine-tuning and improving! Thanks for the input so far. I am already very proud of this project, and while it will take awhile to get it to a true 1.0 state, with all custom art and sprites, I will work as I can until it is truly awesome deluxe!
