Metal Gear Solid: The Essentials

I'm thinking of getting MGS: the essentials for my birthday. For those who don't know, it's MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 put together at a nice little 30$ price tag. I've played all three games. What I want to know is if it's the special editions of the games. You know, Intergral,, Substance, and Subsitance. I really need to find out.

From what i've played, I know that MGS3 has the disc one of Subsistence, and that MGS1 is the classic PS1 version (so you'll need a ps1 memory card). No conformation of what MGS2 is, haven't got to try it yet.

For MGS3, does it have metal gear and metal gear 2 on the first disc?

I'm assuming what they are doing is not editing the software and infact just taking the game, reprinting it as usual and just packaging them together.

Metal Gear Solid is a reprint of the ps1 version (2 ps1 discs) with new cd art and packaging.  MGS2 is the substance edition so it has all the extras.  MGS3 is the subsistence version but doesn't include the 2nd disc that had the english MSX translations.  Konami's reason was that the 2nd disc contained the defunct Metal Gear Online v1.

I think it's a bullshit excuse but whatever.  Subistence is like... 10 bux and you can get substance for 8 so the "essential" collection is really only designed for people new to the series that want to find out what all the hullaballoo for MGS4 is.
