Message speed/customization

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible in Rpg Maker XP version to customize my messages.

For example, changing the speed at which the text defiles (right now it just appears all written), take a pause in the middle of a text, or whatever else.
I know it is possible because I remember doing this with the 2000/2k3 version.

Now I just need to know how I can do this in XP.

Only with scripts like Advanced Message Script (AMS) or Universal Message System (UMS).
Withou theses scripts, only a few options will be avaliable
