Master of the Wind

Master of the Wind (Complete!)

Nope, you probably won't be heading back to those areas for awhile. In the first few arcs our heroes were stationed in Port Arianna so it was easy to revisit areas. Now that they are moving all around Solest it would be difficult to work revisiting old areas into the narrative.

Hmm...

Perhaps maybe after Arc 7 you could make this option to be able to go everywhere around the world, using the current 4th character having a teleportation ability, and then possibly extra end-game quests which are super-hard (something the game is notorious for) including one extra tid-bit to fight some boss, or something.

Arc VII will be the free roaming game. There will still be a main narrative but most of the game will be side-quests that have the players revisiting old areas. I doubt Laurel will have the ability to teleport, but there may be some other service available to get around the world instantaneously. The side-quests will be challenging and there will be bosses.

Couldn't you just use the same methods you did in Arc III? The ship to get to oceanic locations and the wagon to go to landlocked areas? Maybe for a small fee (Or, perhaps, make it free eventually, due to Shroud and Stoic being heroes and all that.)

That likely will figure into the transportation needed in Arc VII...though some sort of "flying" transportation will likely be introduced as well. One pipe dream I have for the game is to open up travel much more when all seven arcs are combined, making it easier to visit past locations once you've done the story that takes place there. It's hard to manage something like that with individual arcs, because allowing someone to return to towns/dungeons means you also have to have the place's music...and then you get into file size concerns.

Have you considered making a version with alternative music instead of mp3s? I have to confess, I didn't like all the music, and a fair bit of the time, I had it muted and iTunes on ':|

Yeah, I do realize you don't really know what to expect from people when they react to the music..if at all. Though I hope you weren't playing other stuff during the scenes where the dialogue moves on its own specifically to work with the music!

Another long-standing dream for the project is to have its own custom soundtrack....but relying on custom anything is always a big risk. We've learned that already with what little custom content we have. I've always been a stickler for mp3s...and borderline obsessive about trying to match the music with the environment/scene, so I think that's going to always be prominent. On the other hand, I am glad the project apparently holds up even while muted. :thumb:

Hmm...

I forgot what these items were for, but could you tell me what are the effects of the Sticky Gloves, Glowing Cape, and the Toxic Boots?

Also, I need to know what Radish, Corn and Carrot do. I know partially what they do, but not exact 100% sure.

And as for the Filesize problem, I think you could seperate the master pack into 2 different downloads:

One is download every arc individually then combine them all into one folder yourself, and the other is download the whole thing.

Just so the people playing have something to do while waiting for finishing the other arcs to finish downloading.

I still love the music regardless ^.^

Anyway, it's like someone said; if the download takes long, do something in the meanwhile. If it's the phone bill expenses being the problem if you're using dial-up, maybe go to a friends' house or some place with faster internet speed, perhaps.

I can understand why you may be confused what those armors do. Sticky Gloves have more physical defense than Leather Gloves, Glowing Cape changes the Battle Cape's physical defense into magic defense, and Toxic Boots does the same with the Hiker's Boots.

Well, to settle the size issue, you can have the main game files with similar stand-in midi files, then have the mp3 music as a separate download, so if people want good music, they need only delete the midis and replace them with the mp3s.

I didn't realize it was an issue. If someone doesn't like the music that is unfortunate but we don't intend on making any midi version. As Volrath said earlier the music is integrated with many of the scenes and is not so easily replaced.

Hey, any idea how soon the next version of arc III is going to come out? The one with all missing battler graphics and such?

I thought I could try to replay this (and get the secret ending) and I was wondering should I wait until the next version with all graphics is released.

If you want to replay it, I suggest you go ahead and do it.

As far as the art goes, we really can't say. Currently we're hoping to get at least some art for Arc IV before we even think of returning to III's leftover battlers. ArtBane and I discuss this issue often but right now I don't really have an answer for you about when the rest of III's art will be done.

I must say I'm really enjoying this game to the bits. It has everything I like in games. My favored aspects of games are story and riddles (which is the reason I like all the Zelda games), and MotW has both of those in a perfect state.

As things go, I get dragged into the environment of the game because of the way the dialogue are presented, and how the music tunes it up perfectly. I'm currently at Arc II, the concert fight, but I'll do it when I get time.

Can't wait to get on Arc III, and eventually IV when it gets out. Rock on guys; rock on!

I'm quite far in Act II, and I must say this is really good work. Lengthy but never boring, not bug-free but it doesn't break the magic... Even if other projects beat it on the graphic side, it deserve to be played. I'm impressed.

If you ever need help with scripts, don't hesitate to ask.

PS: "Gabriella Robin" + Gankutsuou music before the fight vs stoic = win.

I actually implemented your reflection script in one of the later dungeons in arc III. It added a lot to the visuals and made for a good puzzle!

Glad you liked the use of the name Gabriella Robin and the Gankutsuou music in that fight even if they had nothing to do with each other. It is not often someone knows of the origins of both.

Art! Art is always an issue. It takes a painfully long time to do. My suggestion since you guys are really popular is to organize a TEAM of artistis that can work as fast as you guys can pump out the arcs. And then from there split up the projects. One person does line art for battlers, one for line art on facesets, another to clean up all the line work, and another (two) to help color. That should help the issue instead of relying on just one. It becomes very overwhellming very quick.

(BTW did I finish all the facesets you asked me to do? O.o)

Forgive me I played this one a while back but just realized I never reviewed it. (Where is my head?!)

The NPCs this time around I have to agree are much better. I like the random jokes they say and they seem to have more personality (like the kid complaining about getting the water). Though for an extra push you could have them say more than one thing in the same situation. Like after a joke maybe another if you click on them again or something else. That's nit picking though and certainly not a big deal. Oh and the clown saying he's Sparrow... I KNEW it! XD

I can now see a clearer direction you are going with the story. I have a very good idea what you are going to do with Sparrow now but I won't say it here for I'm sure I got your idea on what to do with him. And I must say it's pretty darn good.

The scenes you did with him and Shroud are very nice. It just pludged me right into an action movie and I loved how you added a mini-game to it makeing the player feel right into the action. Great work with the music added in there two. Excellent timeing. That's hard to do.

The other mini game with Stoic underwater was my favorite. I enjoyed it a lot and found it unexpected. I was thinking you'd do a regular battle. What a pleasent surprize. :) Fun yet challenging enough. Next time make a retry rather than a game over. It got annoying trying to go back in and seeing the title screen over and over.

Finely's addition I'm really enjoying. He's just the perfect contrast for the two since they tend to be more serious. His mini-games with the guns are pretty fun too. I liked the Ice falling area. Your characterization on your boys are very good. They devoped much further in this arc very nicely.

Though Laurel and Auburn are lacking. The women in your arc I think pale in comparison because your guys are so strong. Laurel to me seemed "Oh and you'll need a white mage, here" :\ I don't hate her or anything... she jsut seemed sorta tossed in. These two girls need to be watched out for cliche since they are slightly slipping into that area. Laurel is too fresh to really harp on but she is falling into "Sweet girl that can heal" area. I feel that she'll be devoloped fine later on but I'd keep that in mind.

Auburn on the other hand is the anti cliche of Laurel. She's the tough girl that has a classic soft side to her. It's difficult to do the tough girl becuase she's been done to death. Though I'd like less of Auburn's "spill" characterization. I think you're trying to deepend her but in doing so she seems kinda shallow. LIke evertime we see her she's spilling her guts to Cade. The first time more odd becuase they didn't really know eachother (and she even remakrs about it). Just seemed kinda sudden and odd to me. And the second time more understandable because she was explaining the situation. If it weren't for the first spill the second one wouldn't have stuck out so much to me. (I did think the second was apropirate). The kiss killed me. I know you needed her to do that to cut off Cade but it jsut seemd really sudden and out of the blue. She seems to be forced into the love intrest rather than letting it slowly devlope more. Love is a very hard thing to portray.

Gabrielle on the other hand is very good in characterization. She's very three dimensional here as compared to her appearence in arc II. I'm very glad you gave her more than just her prejudice side as well as it was hard to make her likeable after her views were so harsh and ridge towards one of the main characters. I think you pulled her off extreamly well. I find that if you had made Gabrielle the healer in the party instead it'd make much more sence and add some more intresting friction in the party. But what you have her do with Andu is very intresting. I'm dying to know what happens to her.

I really enjoyed playing Arc III. Seriously you guys it just gets better and better. :D
