Making Battlers invisible during attack animation?

Hi, I'm relatively new to RPG Maker XP, after spending a couple years working with RPGM2003 and a long break (almost 4 years).

I'm trying to make it so whenever a character attacks, it shows an animation of that character getting in front of the monster and attacking. My problem is I can't quite figure out what to do about the Battler for that character, as it just sits there like always. It almost seems like the character sends out a body double to do the work, heh.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I need to use scripts or events, or is there an easier answer that I'm just not seeing?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You're going to love how easy this is.

Notice how Skills and Weapons have two different animations-- Attacker/User Animation and Target Animation.

Your Target Animation is where you show the attacker, say, running up to the target and cutting it with a chainsaw or something.

Make your User animation use Hide Target. That'll make the player's Battler disappear. (You can even combine this with an animation showing the character running, or disappearing in a cloud of smoke, or whatever.)

Also, don't forget to change the cells from "Add" to "Normal."
