MAGIA: SOUL OF THE SWORD (WIP)

Genre: Adventure, dungeon exploring, demons

Concept: In the Kingdom of Devonia (subject to change), those of royal blood at the age of 12 years old receive a sword called Magia and are trained in the protection of the realm against the hords of demons flooding into the Kingdom. Now, is the youngest son of the King's time, but when it is believed that he is tainted and unable to pick up the sword; his father is shocked. Mostly humilated by the scene, and though the boy does pick up the blade, it bonds with him. The young Prince is still banished, nevertheless.

Character:

Prince Kaiser - Banished Seven years ago, he has been wondering and training with his Magia Blade.
Personality: Kaiser is boostful arragant reckless, likely to jump head first into battle with little thought. He uses his strength in his blades, though, his Magia powers are mostly weak. Mostly due to his parital being tainted.

Magia Sword - Kathrine: It is said that the royal family and a sword are bonded together, hence his sword is called Kathrine, but unlike many other Magia, her memories are faulty. She is tough and doesn't let up on Kaiser in the slightiest, and is the only friend that he has had for the last seven years.

Heather - The servant of the Demon Lord who tainted Kaiser to begin with. She is from the Agila tribe, and has no memories, but Kaiser unwilling to destroy the girl took her with him. She is more of a child, as she has no memories of her past.

Gavin - A soldier (former poet) who is assigned to Kaiser by the former Captain of the Guard.

Notes: Basically, the whole point to this game is simple put, head into dungeons to accomplish missions from sealing monster nests, to locating an important item to continue on. Another part of this game is a side mission to release spirits to be able to pass on, if you free a certain number of them, you get something. Though, I haven't decided what. This is, also, a story game where you learn things about the main characters as you play like Kaiser's past, to the girl, Heather, even down to Kathrine (his Magia blade) as he battles to destroy hords of demons. I will add more to this, it's really going to be simple game where, your adventure forth in search of objects or missions. I am using the default battle system, but there will be various way of getting into battles.

The enemies on the screen, in portals and in the wilderness there, will be random battles, from regular animals like wolves to lone demons. I hope to write up the Lore while working on a re-editing project I have going on. I am not really sure what kind of game this could be called, sigh, I just like to create. Anyway, will add more later.

This could turn into a generic idea if you aren't careful. Right now you have a generic JRPG take (nothing wrong with that but you can do better!!!!) The backstory seems to have nothing really to do with the game. Its great to have twists and interesting backstories but it needs to be incorporated more into the gameplay itself and the plot. You have all of these different ideas and no glue holding them together. If you are shooting for a simple dungeon crawler game then maybe tone down the plot and the backstory a bit and focus on a simple plot.

I think that something light-hearted would end up more endearing~

Thank you for your suggestions. This is just the opening threat, I have no doubt that I will ultimately have quite a few twists and turns, because I create what feels right for the story. When me and my brother were younger we told stories a lot like this, so it has nothing to do with Jrpgs, which is why when we found manga and anime, we really liked it. We created our own style of doing things by watching various shows and characters. (We only found anime and Manga afterwards, we never had cable or the internet... we always did our own thing.) While I do like "light-hearted", I can not do it in the slightest, I find it too boring and ultimately stop. I see too many characters who are the happy-go-lucky with not a single bit of pain in their lives and find it slightly unrealistic.
