Thanks bunches! I think you're both a lot more talented at spriting than I am, so it's definitely an honor to read that you liked my sprite.
I will eventually get around to doing all 4 sides and animating the first sprite, but I've also got a few other character designs I'm just itching to put into pixel form.
I'll update the thread with more of my work as I complete it.

I can't fully check that out on this comp, but from what I see, I see only 2 shades in the hair.
Check out this Hair tutorial by Tana, she puts it better (and quicker) than I can:

It seems to me that the outline is solid, it just needs some refined shading. Oh, and the grey pants need another color or two (light & dark or just one, depending upon how flat the pattern is).
Your outlines are FANTASTIC, though. Keep it up :'D

I actually used 6 colors for the hair, but I think my values might be too close together. I've upped the contrast and brightness to show the shading:

It's still not ideal shading on the hair, as I'd like to add more texture and whatnot, but I'm getting there (I hope!).
The gray pants are actually semi-transparent stockings, so they should show the natural shading of the skin, but I will go in and manually add some shadows for where the tattered skirt falls.

Awesome. I'm seeing a loot of groovy HK sprites lately. As for the hair. You probably don't have to use 6 colors. I find that less is more on sprites unless you need the additional colors for shiney highlights. But it does look btter with the new contrast. I really like the outfit she's wearing, though I think the upper curve of the bill on the hat is a little shakey.
