TECH DEMO ON FRIDAY
I am going to release a Tech Demo version of Lost Fantasy on Friday 22nd September. I say "Tech Demo" because it will simply be to test the game systems such as the Hud, the battle system, the quest system, and other things.

Why?
Well, I find it hard to keep deadlines really. I think to myserlf "Right... I'll finish the Hud later and work on something else" and then never get around to finishing the Hud or whatever I was doing. So, by setting a release date for the Tech demo, I'll actually have a reason to finish the systems and then I can get on with making the actual first version of the game.

What will it feature?
The demo will have one map. Yes, one small map. On this map will be several enemies to fight, one or two shops, an example guildhouse with password, and maybe several spots to train the non-combat skills. There will also be test quests, with very simple goals just to test the quest system and such.

Info
Lost Fantasy (Or Project LF) is an online game made using RMXP and Netplay+.
This is not an Identikit RPG, a lot of hard work has been put into it so far.

Story
Lost Fantasy is set in the world of Afar. Through many previous games this world has been shaped and I now have a clear view of what the land is like (The Chronicles of Afar game was never finished unfortunetely).

Magic was always a great sight in the world of Afar. Wizards and summoners who had trained in the finer arts of magic were often called in to entertain at parties and gatherings, but they also had a more serious role to play. Dark mages, specialising in the Dark Arts of magic, often tried to threaten towns and cities with plots of destruction and despair. They rarely ever got very far however, as their numbers were few... But then the Magi came. The Magi tribe, a clan of Dark Mages, wanted to find a way to bring a "summon" (a being or demon that can be summoned using a ritual to do as the caster wishes) to take over the capital city of Western Afar, the aptly named "Capitol". their plan succeeded- too well. They opened a mystic portal in the far north of the land and out came many monsters and deadly beasts, as well as summons. The last remaining Magi were either wiped out, or became demonic beings, pure evil at heart with no soul.

The lands of the north are now known as the "Fire Fields", and the area surrounding them is soon becoming contaminated with monsters and beasts. More have travelled all over the world, but the closer one gets to the Fire Fields, to the core of all the evil in this world, the more powerful and deadly the monsters and beasts seem to become.

Graphics
Graphics are at the moment made by REFMAP, (First Seed Material). They have been resized and remade (it's in the terms of use, don't worry) to fit RMXP.

Commercial?
Most probably there will be both a free and a paid version to Lost Fantasy.

Systems
At the moment the following custom systems are in place:
-Pets (By myself) (soon to be pet pvp when the N+ PvP package is released)
-Shrubbery creation system (er... stupid Knights of Ni... they made me say it!)
-Quest log
-Custom menu with character sheet
-Custom Hud
-Skills system
-Guilds system

Other systems not made by me include:
-Action battle system (By Near Fantastica)
-Trading
-Soon to be player versus player
-Chat system (editted by me)

Ignore black circled spots and areas outside of the walls for now.

If you wonder why I keep saying "Myself" instead of "Me" it's so you don't get confused between Me and Meâ„¢.

Release date
Who knows?

Update

Current world, featuring the whole of Tiben Town plus a small part of Moorlake Valley:

Edit: i should note that this is in no means finished. There is still some empty space within the Town's walls, and Moorlake Valley leaves much to be desired.

I have tried to make three main styles of housing:

Upper-middle class
The red-roofed brick buildings are for the richer residents, the three here are owned by the town so they are much more expensive and extravagent.

Lower-middle to Working Class
Wooden buildings, green roofs. They cannot afford luxury brick houses.

Barracks
the straw thatched-roofed wooden building is the barracks, paid for by the mayor. He does not want to spend all of the money on the Guards house as they are hardly ever there anyway, they have long shifts.

@Mr.Mo: Thanks!

Still a long way to go though. I'm not at home tomorrow, but Friday I'll work on finishing the first priest class quest.

Editted but mostly copied from The Screenshot Thread for this post.

Made a screenshot of the world map so far, it is a 100x100 map. The world will be made up of several 100x100 maps probably. This map features Tiben Town and the *almost completed* Moorlake Valley. MV still needs finishing, as you can see there are quite a few blank areas and such. The red lines are there to show areas that will not be seen by the player. These areas will not be detailed. North: You never go this far north *at the moment*. South: The causeway takes you to the next map to the south so you never see the bit further south *on this particular map*.

South of Moorlake Valley is an area simply called "River Elm Region", Moorlake is the source of the River Elm. Moorlake Valley will also in the future link to a map to the East, known as "Elder Forest", which then leads on to another small area known as "Elder Village". (I have most of this area of the world pretty much thought out.)

Note: While this does not look much like a valley at the moment, I will be adding hills and mountains to the East of the map as well. =)

Thanks.
Oh and I forgot to add: I know at the moment the cliff on the West side looks a bit... one-layered, I am going to change it soon to add more different heights in it. Bit hard to explain.

To be honest, I was looking forward to this when it was first posted. But since then, it has just gone from awesome to so-so.

awesome dude, get a demo out and I'll stat playing! Right now its all you and Sirskateton or w/e :P Show them nay sayers!

What's wrong with it that wasn't wrong before?

Edit: Just finished converting all 264 Refmap charactersets for Lost Fantasy.

The way you had to menu and all that before, was so much more nicer then the way it is placed now. And I'm not the biggest fan these graphics.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions I suppose.

New screenshot, it's sort of a... tester screenshot to see how this works. I got rid of the window back from the equipment and the skills windows. I also made it so that you can click on the skills window or the equipment to open their respective menu scenes, so the "menu" box can be smaller as it needs less options.

HP and MP bars are temporary. The face is also temporary, it was the first one I found. Parts of the Hud are still "mock-upped" because I haven't found any help with my Hud in script requests (well, Darklord said he was gonna try it but he's disappeared).

The quest text where it cuts off is also temporary, I will fix it soon.

Oh and Photofuckit resized it.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - Skill hotkeys
F8 - hold down for quest window
F9 - hold down for "hero" window
F5 - opens the chat window (which I need to re-edit for the new system)
Left mouse - For clicking things
Right mouse - Also for clicking things
Enter - For doing stuff (default)
Arrows - For moving the player and/or the cursor
F7 - Private chat

Edit:

Just so that you know, if this looks better than the previous one, I will be reprogramming the Hud so that it runs smoother and stuff, and doesn't use windows where not needed, etc.

Thanks. I'm trying to make it as far from RMXP as possible really. I'm gonna use hardly any default systems, or at least edit them beyond recognition :) Which is gonna take a long time.

I'm a bit with shifter on this, but thats only due to the lack and poorness of the people who tried in the past to make an MMO with RMXP, but you Wyatt are putting a lot of effort into this game and it shows. Good luck and I'm dieing to test this thing out!
