Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The Ring

For those of you who dont know what LOTR is , it's a classic story that old JRR Tolkien wrote, about the finding and destroying of the one ring of power, which makes you invisible.

But I am planning to make my first complete game continuing the series. This is just an idea, or I am thinking of making a stronghold RPG game of LOTR where you defend different castles of Middle Earth. I wish for the main character to be Frodo, a hobbit from the shire who has recently destroyed the ring, but now Sauron the darklord "owner of the one ring" has revived it and is ruling again, its up to frodo to get back to Mordor and reclaim the ring. Any comments or ideas?
Plus I am creating this with RPG MAKER XP.

If anyone wants to help please PM me.

that sounds like a horrible idea. How does Sauron revive. He is dead and there is no hope for him. And Frodo, he is messed up from the ring's power. I doubt he would go back there again anyways. Honestly, the whole concept of LOTR is a bad idea, but your concept idea is just terrible. Listen, try to make something more original. Why not make an original game using your ideas and concepts, only eliminate the LOTR aspect of it? :)

alright, i would like to include a hobbit in my story. How about a young hobbit in Middle Earth has to destroy elronds ring since hobbits are immune to the one rings power.? Since frodo is messed up and sauron is dead. And since Elronds ring "Vilya" is the second most powerful ring in middle earth and it has betrayed elrond and has made him evil. Im really intrested in making a LOTR game to start with then making orginal ideas afterwards. Anyway you could help me on this one

No, I don't see this ever working.

The LOTR trilogy ended with Frodo leaving Middle Earth to die. He can't come back. He's gone, forever.

I don't know too much about LOTR but it just sounds like a really bad idea. Seems far too similar to the actual trilogy which worked great as just that-a trilogy, three books, and then the story ends.

Plus you'd have huge difficulties in making your story fit with the setting of LOTR. One of the big problems in making a game set in a place created by someone else is that you have to conform everything you make to fit their worlds.

Do what becoolioman said-eliminate the LOTR aspect, and make your own world. Believe me, it's much easier (and funner!) to create your own world, with your own characters, own laws, and own setting. Plus, people like to play original games more than ones based off an already existing series.

Well, I must say that I agree with the above posts make your own game first because my second game (I guess you could say it was my second because 'Maaku's quest' was in the works then my first game) It was called TES: Tamreil not sure if you know of the The Elder Scrolls series? Oblivion and morrowind are the most populer seqauls of the series. Anywho I got lots of people into making the game and it turned out in the end after about a months effort of choosing story, monsters, traveling ect...

It turned out that Bethesda (the company who made and owns the rights to the TES series) said that we could not make this game and that it would be illegal to! because there copyright stated that If anybody does make a fan game it can only be made using the TES Construction set... so yeah. the game was cancelled and project thrown in the bin... ... but anyway im just telling you that so you know Fan made games about other games/movies/ possibly books are hard to make without difficulty with either getting all the details right or getting admition to use the original owners content.

So yeah im not gunan rip into you about "Ohh this was a bad idea blah blah blah" I understand why you wanted to make it because lets face it lord of the rings is epic and would make a good RPG but... meah dont bother making a fan game yet wait untill you have made like one of your own original games.

good luck :)

I don't see why you can't set it in Middle Earth. Tolkein has published more books than just the LOTR series, and a majority of them are in Middle Earth. Why not take some time to read up on some lore and create your own original adventure in Middle Earth? This way you can keep the elements of LOTR than I can tell you want in the project.
