Logo Design for Critique

This logo was made for a survival horror oriented Warcraft III map/gamemode I've been working on for maybe 100 years, that's finally coming to fruition.

The base was a screenshot (You can kind-of make out a zombie on the left of the text), with which I putzed around with to this present form.

Here's the base text layer. (I'm working on a loading screen for the map, so this will come in handy.)

So, what do you guys think?

I was kinda trying to make it looks like I used a bunch of nifty brushes, without actually using any brushes.

Well good sir, for one thing, on the image above, you can't read the part that says 'the last' at all. I didn't realize it was there till I looked at the text layer. As for the text layer, those droplets look very, very repetitive, but they don't show up on the image so it doesn't matter much.

It looks pretty gr9, but if you care about people reading 'the last' you might want to bring that out somehow. Like... Add some pink flashing lights maybe.

Also all those repeating images would look pretty amazing as a gif, with the whole 5 second pause, then a little shifting around of them. FOOD FOR THOUGHT PROCESSING INSIDE YOUR CRANIUM MENTAL CASE

Part of what makes the "The Last" part so hard to read is partially the fault of the background. I'm not super concerned about it, because it is sorta readable, and in case you didn't notice, "Survivor" is purposely super emphasized. (In other words, I don't especially care about them reading it.)

I'm going to play with it to try to make it more readable though.

As for animating it, that was my initial idea, but I'm having some difficulty. Still working on it.

Finally, the text will never be shown against a light background like this, so the relative repetition of the blood drops will be severely deminished.

I'm particularly fond of the extra sharpness of the letters... makes it appear as though the word was written on a hard, scratchy surface. From what I can tell, that sort of background is the main weakness of this logo, and seeing how you've said you won't be using a background like that, I have no complaints. I actually think this is better as a still than anything I could imagine it being animated as... if you were to animate dripping or something it might look cheesy.

I was thinking of trying to animate is so that the two layers of "shadow text" sort-of flicker/twitch/phase in and out of focus.

Kind of like the back layers had a bit of static.
