Linkin Park - Minutes To Midnight

Hey. As you guys may or may not know, Linkin Park is releasing their third full studio album release, Minutes To Midnight, on May 15, 2007. They've grown and evolved their music, and they are really hoping people will enjoy what they have to offer.

Their first single, What I've Done, just released TODAY. Both the song and the music video should be available for purchase on iTunes, and a bunch of other places.

I'm not sure I'm allowed to post direct links to the files/streams on this forum, so I'll just say that if you wanna check it out, tons of people have put the video on YouTube (http://youtube.com/) already, so just search "What I've Done" and look for a picture set in a desert (you'll see many of them).

I'm personally a huge fan of Linkin Park, and while a lot of people criticize them for being "emo" or "nu-metal" or whatever label they can find, they're really trying to break free from labels and just create GOOD MUSIC. I'm hoping you guys will take a listen though. It's really good, especially the video. A lot of meaning behind it. Actually makes me want to make a game out of the concept (even though I don't really make games anymore because I never finish them)... :-/

*EDIT* I forgot to mention, the full song itself is available for listening on the splash page of the official Linkin Park website.

Blech.. they do have good songs, when you remove the moronic labels, just not my kind of music though. Hopefully the album doesn't suck though, because I know at some point i'll be forced to listen to some of it, lol.

Well, the few places that have gotten a taste of the album say it's definitely their best work yet. Especially one track, which I'll definitely make you guys listen to, called The Little Things Give You Away, which is a huge departure for Linkin Park. It's over six minutes long, and has things like a guitar solo, an a cappella part, and more. The band says it is their best song yet, the pinnacle of what they can achieve. On May 8th, it should be on MTV's The Leak. :)

Bah. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. I'm listening to it a lot, but... I dunno yet, you know? We'll see when the actual album comes out and there's no crazy demo stuff. But you're right. That is a good song.

Heard the album, don't really like any of the tracks on it really :(

Unless you live in Malaysia and went to the first public listening session of the album in Kuala Lampur, you haven't heard the album.
There are tons of torrents and files of the album that are COMPLETELY fake, and are by some completely different band that has no relation to Linkin Park. You most likely downloaded one of those. The only thing that the public can listen to off the album so far is What I've Done.

Can someone post a list of the album musics?

As in, the tracklist?
01. Wake
02. Given Up
03. Leave Out All The Rest
04. Bleed It Out
05. Shadow Of The Day
06. What I've Done
07. Hands Held High
08. No More Sorrow
09. Valentine's Day
10. In Between
11. In Pieces
12. The Little Things Give You Away
13. Secret ITunes Exclusive (Pre-Order Only)
14. Secret ITunes Exclusive #2

Don't be fooled though. Even if you see an album called Minutes To Midnight online that has the same tracklist, it's a fake. They supposedly have 24/7 security on the computers that have the album on them and there are barely any actual physical copies of the album right now.

I wish them luck without Mike. I used to be a fan but I'm pretty worn out on them. Sounds mediocre imo.

That's the biggest false rumor about Linkin Park.

Mike Shinoda is still in the band. He never left. Fort Minor was a side project. In this single, Mike is playing guitar and doing backup vocals towards the end. He still raps on a few songs, but his role has changed a lot. He plays a lot of different instruments in different songs, and he's lead singer on one song. He also co-produced the album with Rick Rubin.

We should be able to hear two new songs this month from AOL Sessions, so please try to reserve judgement until then! Not everyone likes this song, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give the rest of the album a chance!

I´m not sure if i would stand listening just Chester in those musics. As far as i coud see, Mike will be participating less in this album. The band's style changed too, and i didn´t liked it. What I´ve Done simply doesn´t have nothing so attractive, and the excessive use of tragic/calamitous scenes just make me remind of POD.

Oh yeah. Time to change my nickname... xD

Producer Rick Rubin agrees about Linkin Park, "They really are reinventing themselves, it doesn't sound like rap-rock. There's very strong songwriting. It's very melodic...a progressive record."

(really cool quote)

also i've heard What I've Done and it is remarkably boring. a LOT more boring than previous songs. generic chords, ridiculously simple piano pattern. i don't see much cool coming out of this album.

then again i just dislike LP in general so

Well even LP themselves honestly haven't really praised the song (as much as you would expect them to...) but instead they've really been putting a lot of focus on the last track of the album, The Little Things Give You Away.

On May 8th, MTV's The Leak will have the full album up so PLEASE listen to a couple songs, or at least The Little Things Give You Away, before you pass complete judgement on the album.

I'm skeptical too, with all the talk about changing their style, and people saying all they're doing is becoming "mainstream" and whatnot...but I also have a lot of faith in this album.

Still, What I've Done is quite good, especially if you appreciate it for just the music, instead of trying to rip it into pieces and anaylze every detail of it just to form your opinion about it.

If you like the music video, please head over to the MTV Battle of the Videos and vote for Linkin Park!

BTW: A little off topic but, is anyone here going to Bamboozle?!
