Brief Description

A free all-in-one game construction kit targeted to be both powerful yet simple to use.

Target Aim

Provide a standard framework that allows users to create just about any kind of games. We have selected Lua as a bridge language to expose engine functionality and allow users to extend the construction kit as needed. LGCK strives to be a compromise between fast execution and ease of use. Release version will implement a GUI that will encapsulate all customizable game elements.

Technology

Platforms:
- Windows (XP, Vista, 7)
- Linux (KDE)
- Mac (tba)

Programming:
- C++ for the engine
- lua for in-game scripting

The two keys restrictions are speed and portability. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. :)

The question is: what scripting do you think would be a good replacement for Lua? Python? Ruby?
 
Ruby is well known here, but it's a bit more difficult to implement according to some people's opinions, so maybe Python could be a good option, but it's a matter of personal taste.
