Well I was never too good at pixel art and was just terrible with hair so I decided why not do something that can be done quickly, has nothing to do with hair, and of course is fun. So I decided to start making icons. I'd love critique on them and will be updating this thread often with new icons I plan on doing 3 icons a day at a minimum until i run out of ideas hehe.

I'll gladly take requests if you so wish, free of charge I'd like the challenge of bringing others ideas to life and getting better at my icon skills while i do so.

So I just HAVE to ask this... why are your outlines purple ? o.O

I think they look better than solid black. I could try to make them a little darker, do they look bad with purple?

You should do the outlines the same as you'd do a character sprite or whatever, not giving it a thick outline, especially PURPLE

Okay so here are the quick edits of the outlines to get rid of the puple colour, I've also changed the shading just a tad on the sword and spear










So as you can see, the ones I've done don't appear to be so flat, outlines will usually give off this effect, especially on such a small piece, so it's best to avoid them, unless ofcourse you're going for a certain style.

E- If you're wondering why mine have green backgrounds, it's so that when you import them into the maker, and choose the transparent colour, the white used on the icons won't vanish either.

Cool stuff jbrist, I'm not going to change my current 3 icons because I don't know I'd just feel like I'd be stealing from you but I'm going to use your advice on my next icons, thanks for the advice mate.

New Icon, just a flame imbued sword I made with some critique from jbrist. I think it looks nice but meh what do you guys think.



EDIT :
Counting this as just 1 icon since its really 1 with 2 recolors but heres a potion vial, Empty, Health, and Mana.

Running behind on my 3 icons a day goal but meh heres an axe I did, not too proud of the handle but i think this is the best it's gonna get.

This ones been driving me crazy all day but I got it how I like it so I'm happy heres a swallow (double bladed pole arm) i did.



EDIT:
Thought I'd brake away from equipment for a bit and do a spell icon or two. Heres a meteor spell, I tried making the emteor engulfed in flames but it didnt work out but it still looks decent as is.
