Lene Art Thread

Okay, thought I'd start one since I've been drawing a lot lately lately. I really want to get myself a scanner in the near future because while drawing with my tablet is fun, I'm really slow at it.

Anyways, here's a picture I drew today:

I know it's another face/bust forward view picture! I can draw more than that, it's just I'm still getting used to drawing it all on tablet, and I was trying out a new shading technique.

Here's a picture I drew last week, for Sovay who just had a birthday. I put text in there as a precaution but honestly I don't think anyone wants to do anything with it, but you can't be too safe. I'm just really proud of this one as it was done completely on a tablet.

The huge monkey ears are distracting. The eyes are big too and look like you just flipped them.

The second one has something wierd going on with the eyes. Spread too far apart...or something. Reminds me of the big guy from the Goonies...in a nun costume.

I drew the girl with large ears and eyes on purpose. ;)

The size of the eyes are a stylistic choice, so I guess if you don't like it, I guess then we're just going to have to agree to disagree on what looks good. As for the ears, well they're large. I noticed it when I drew it and I decided to stick with it because I think it gives her more character.

The comment on the eyes for the second one is noted.

what program do you use to draw these? they look great! (second ones eyes look abit outta whack tho...)

A good artist doesnt need any program to get a good effect. Just look at Market and MSPaint. Even if you did know what program she used, what different would it make?

Note on Vesta: Her hair looks bland. Its the color, the contour is well done. The color, it looks like standard "add black" and "add white". Same thing with the skin tones, shouldn't the shaded areas be redder?

I acutally used a purple tint to the shading at first...but when I was showing the pic off people didn't like that you could see the purple...it was too jarring, so I desaturated, darkened and used the smudge tool, which it probably why it looks that way to you. I think I'm going to experiment with things more, coloring is definately not my strongpoint and eventually I'll find a balance between over saturated (like the Pixy pic I posted not too long ago) and a little too desaturated.

I use photoshop 6.0 and a tablet btw.

Love it, very nice style, but the second picture the girl looks eye boggled lol...her left eye goes out too much..if you can see what i mean.

Great nevertheless! ^_^

I see some errors(well they are for me if i dont consider your style). The eyes are too close and the ears of the first one is big. The second one is nice too, but it would get better if you shorten the line of the lips(it is nice for female characters to have short lip lines). And the right eyebrow is too high..

I can say they are cleanly drawn and colored, unlike mine. :$

Keep up the art Lene!
