Leafytree Sprites

First of all, I swear I thought I was being original by using a dark outline. I really did. Seems there's a few topics where people are doing pretty much the same thing. I've seen at least two already.

Oh well, can't win them all.

That's one frame of the template, the first one, and since I still had the guidelines (WHY did I save the guidelines? In truth I on't remember) I figured I'd show those as well to show how I do the things.

I'd post the entire template but I'm sorry to say I'm not a very trusting person. I've had sprites and art pinched from me before. Sorry about that.

And now these:-

The first one is Guu of Hale and Guu (it's good watch it). She was just a quick test sprite to check I liked the template before I finished it. I liked it.

The four after are Kiwi, Grape, Sultana and Plum. They're characters from my game. The outfits are the default ones, but they will change in-game.

They have no neck which fucks up the anatomy a little bit. The shading on the template looks strange. It has no real light source...

The sprite design look nice though. It does look like someone shot their middle toe off though.

They remind me of Gelflings from the movie Dark Crystal; sorta interesting.

9MM, the no-neck thing is part of the style... as they aren't going for "anatomically-correct" in the first place, that concern doesn't really seem valid.

If I recall feedback is considered opinionated, meaning that all opinions would be valid. It wouldn't matter if the title topic said "MY NO NECK STYLE SPRITES," if I can provide relevant backing of my opinion then it could hardly be considered invalid. Save being a smart ass for someone else.

Hey, it's okay. The no-neck thing is a mixture of the style and the angle - they have tiny necks which are hidden by the chins in the sprites because it's a top-down veiw.

The toes are laziness on my part. I couldn't get away with no-toes because the bulk of the characters have bare feet but I hate toes. Gave up in the end and left it at that.

If you keep the end of the foot the way it is (slightly jagged), but remove the detail on the inside that shows the toes, it will still give the illusion of having toes without looking too cramped.

I like the style, though. Good job.

good job, i like them alot more than rtp and some other templates. The appeal to the eyes..... if you get that. I really like them.

They're very adorable. They remind me of pixel dolls, detail and all.

I'd love to see a screenshot of them in an environment like a town or forest. I think they'd just look so expressive and fun :)
