LITTLE BIG PLANET

Jesus what can I say

This game oozes style. There is so much to do, it's absolutely overwhelming.

Not only is this a platformer, it's a platformer creator. And a really fun one at that!

So you get a li'l sackboy. You go to your Pod (a cardboard birdhouse in space), then from there you visit the world. In the Story levels, you collect and find the hundreds (and thousands???) of items, stickers, decorations, costumes, hairstyles, etc etc etc etc. Then, from yuor Pod, you can fly to your MY MOON, where you can use all these gads and gads of things to design your own dream level to share with friends or online.

Up to 3 players can join you locally, or from online, at any time, even in the middle of a level. Some optional areas of the Story levels require 2 or more people. The servers aren't online yet so I haven't been able to experiment with this, however I did have my husband play with me on a level and it was very fun.

This is an extremely simple game on the outside, but it's hiding an immense level of complexity, and you'll find that out pretty quickly into the tutorial.

The only problem I can find right now is that the loading times are a little long, and sometimes it's hard to tell what "z-layer" your sackboy is on in the sideview levels, ending in a few frustrating moments in certain levels.

The first levels are deceptively easy. Once you get to the 3rd continent, you'll find the difficulty ramped up a surprising amount.

Like I said initially, this game oozes style. The colors are bright, and the effects are beautiful and mesmerizing. I can stare at the fire and feather effects all day long. Everything looks like the stuff of paper dolls and childhood toys, and the graphics themselves are some of the best I've seen yet on the PS3.

So anyway if you have a PS3, GET THIS GAME. It's an amazing feat in ingenuity.

Oh, and if you want to friend me on the PS network my handle is Venetia1010 :)

yeah i've seen some really good things but a lot of people are claiming that this game is a lot of things that it isn't. level creation isn't anything new (even if this does take it to a whole new level) and i don't think that this game will revolutionize platform gaming or anything. i'm not saying that you claim this but a lot of people are seriously overhyping this game.

that doesn't mean i think it's bad. i've watched a bunch of videos and this game looks really amazing. my buddy has a ps3 and i go over to his place pretty much every friday and im trying to convince him to get this game. looks like a MUSTHAVE if you do have a ps3 but imo it's not worht buying a ps3 for.

I agree that it's not bringing any brand new overall concepts to the table. And insofar as its platformer playability, it's way simplified (you can only run, jump, and grab, no special moves).

But that aside, what it does, sets the bar high for all other games who try to do the same. And it does all these un-revolutionary things in an incredibly revolutionary way. Many times it boils down to a playground with physics: you can go fast on a skateboard if you make a steep hill, you can go high by jumping on a springboard over and over, you can get to high places by using weights and your own weight to navigate see-saw platforms and bouncy, wobbly cloud-platforms on strings. And the multi-player aspects are refreshing and ingenious.

The level creator is nuts. I've seen plenty of level creators in games before, but this is just totally nuts. There is such a ridiculous, massive amount of detail you can put into it, it's exciting to think about what people'll come up with.

Anyway I was waiting for a long time for this game and I'm glad it's here and did not disappoint :D

The best thing is the announced Sephiroth and Solid Snake though. But yeah I played the beta. Its filled with awesomeness. Although you get idiots some time online that fuck everything up. But other than that its well worth the money. My brother got it yesterday. Only real gripes though are the fact that the rocket packs are incredibly hard to get rid of. You have to pull the controller towards you and PS3's six axis doesn't work very well. All in all though as V put it if you have a PS3 this is a must get game.

Bet Gameinformer trashes it though. As it does most games it builds hype over. :/

And I've never really seen anything for spore. I heard it was kinda short and you just do the same thing over and over again. As is the case with the Sims though and thats incredibly popular beyond belief.

Jet Packs aren't hard to get rid of? Just press circle :/

Maybe that was a quirk in the beta or summin.

And yeah Spore was kind of a letdown but I still had fun with it, despite the replayability kind of being nonexistent.

i typically beat a game in about 3-4 days, if i play it enough. though fc2 and lbp have been taking me a while, probably since i've been playing them both at the same time. now i have fallout too, so @_@

Have it, it's very fun but because I almost always have people to play with I'm assuming it is less fun when you have no one around to play WITH. Oh and some levels are ridiculously hard to get all items on :P

because i'm playin it, bitchez!

but yeah i'm playing all the story levels by myself first, then i'll attempt multiplayer shits. i think i'm pretty close to done with the story now. i'm in asia, so i'm thinking that's the last area?

and jd you should play because it's fun and super cute and some of the music is really addicting and you can play with me! :<

@Venetia: The last level isn't in Asia (if you mean that samurai/ninja place). Oh yeah, the music, gameplay, and limitlessness of character customization is extremely cool, so if anyone is wondering if they should get it or not, get it! It's amazing!
