Layered Jump system. Tracking help needed

For my game project im trying to make a jumping system that would give my game a more 3d feel to it, no the problem Im having is tracking that character when he makes the jump. I want to make my towns layared and by doing this I think I could add a new level of realism and even make things more enjoyable. Anyways the reason I need to track a character is so when he jumps the game will know where to transfer him, Like when he jumps the game will shift to a layered mode instead of displaying the whole town it'll only dsiplay one layer and as he jumps up the layers more will be displayed.

Its hard to explain what I'm trying to do so I made a screen shot:

Also I just noticed now that I didnt label my screen, The picture gos in order from ground level than to the first jump, to the second and to the third.

If you still need me to explain things better I can try, and if anyone can help me it will be greatly apprieciated! :)
