This actually sounds pretty cool. But, how will their government work without taxation? I'm no expert on economics, by any stretch of the imagination, but it sounds sort of silly.

Well this was hit out of left field for me.

I say .... Interesting.

I've always felt that the United States was infringing too harshly upon the Native Americans -- I was hoping more could be done about mending the rift between us, but this fledgling nation could easily become a cancer on the union if we simply let it fester without drawing any media attention. Hopefully, instead of a Lakota "country", they simply are extended more rights and integrate back into the union, otherwise this could get ugly.

But still. Interesting.

Just a note.
I was reading up on this, and it is still yet unknown if this is an actual real motion by the represents of the elected governments of the Sioux Nation (of which Lakota is a part - whom I share blood with (that's right, I've got Sioux a bloodline -among many others- in me)), or merely the over zealous whims of the activists.

Personally.  While tax free would be great, it'll never stand.
It's odd, technically what they are asking for is pretty much exactly what we promised them :x

Nah, no Civil War.  The US would end this pretty quickly.  Unless there are millions, I can't see this making an impact.  And the US would not allow something like this to happen within their borders.  Interesting, but in the end, it will be futile.
