Good luck man and joining the army is a good choice, you get a lot of benefits you know, the ASVAB is cake I scored decent on it without taking practice test but I wish you luck in the army and getting your BS :]

i personally would never join the armed service, just b/c people yelling really stresses me out (and i have asthma & narcolepsy so im out anyway), but doing it is really good for your work ethic and giving you discipline. i've seen total slackjawed gawkers turn into beneficial members of society just from a few years' stint in the marines (i grew up near Camp Pendleton).

so good luck man! i hope you level up your character to like atleast level 43 in there. which is more than enough to beat sephiroth.

When I joined, I got an 88.. 11 points below perfect, and they would not stop asking why I chose 13D (AFATD operator for artillery) instead of NBC tech. But everything aside, it has all been summed up. I was in for a number of years, and it's true. Once you leave, you regret itm, because it does become part of your everyday routine. 6am, wake up, PT, breakfast, classes, lunch, classes, dinner, rec time, lights out, repeat. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and i'll try to answer them as best as I can.

Thanks guys! Only a couple of hours away from ASVAB time...Your right Verg, they are going to be up my ass about a different MOS...I'm going to stay firm about my job choice because I don't want to get fucked over and actually have to do that kind of stuff.

@Soul- I was in a program as a kid that was similar to BCT, only more disciplinary, and I missed it! Waking up early and working out rocked! I felt great and it gave me motivation to stay fit. Thanks for your support and I'll ask some questions when I get done today!

Thanks man! I got offered certain jobs, but I turned them down. I'm going to wait until the job I want comes up, but it takes a while for someone to leave it or transfer out.

At this point I can't wait to go, but I can wait to get the job I want. I'm getting it reserved once my college transcript gets into the recruiter's station.

You did pretty incredible on your ASVAB. I took one to see where i'd land and got Cat I, but I busted my ass to do it. Honestly, the top two categories are prime picks for Special Forces. I know you plan on being a ranger, but do look into the opportunity to join the Green Berets, formally known as just the USASF. Once you're a green beret, you're pretty much set for life on what you want to do. It shows great discipline and capability to rise if you do get out, and if you don't, god knows where it could take you. Delta Force, the CIA's SAD, it may even just qualify you for Officer training.

Wow! I feel bad every time I do this...I never studied for it and I got a good score...Same with my GED...Scored highest in my class and got New York State Honors!

If I understand correctly, black berets are just standard US Army headgear.

They were once issued to special forces in WWII and US Navy in Vietnam, but that's about it. Oh, and Russia's national police force, so aptly named "the black berets."

Black Berets used to be worn by Rangers exclusively, until they switched to tan berets after black became army universal. Keep Special Forces in mind, and train hard for em.

Best of luck. I was a 13b (Artilleryman) in the U.S. Army and it was an expirience which helped me be a better overall person. There's ups and downs and it will probably suck but it's part of the expirience.
