Joining the Army

Injury

Awesome Bro

Hey everyone!

I stalk around here from time too time, and I've always felt grateful for this resource, its' ability to adapt over time, and the humor.

Pleasantries aside, I'm just letting you know I'm joining the Army and I'd like members with previous experience too share their knowledge...I'm sorry if you think I'm making a poor choice, but I know what I want, and I need support, not deterrents.

Going into Signals 25B, Airborne School, Air-Assault School and finally Ranger school. At the same time, I'll be trying to secure my BS in Computer Information Systems and pay back my loans.

Thanks for your support and comments! I'll get back on the board and tell everyone how BCT went in a couple of months!

Also, until I ship out, I'll be making a small project.

Thanks!

No dude this is great. I mean personally the whole army thing is a turn-off, but my brother did it and I have a few friends who did it and it was a great thing for them.

If it's the right thing for you then it's fantastic. Congrats bro.

Thanks for the support! Exactly what I need!

Everyone I've talked too said it was the greatest thing they've done up till that point in their life. I can't wait!

I wish you the best of luck! Be proud of your service to your country, and do not be deterred by those who are unwilling to show the same dedication to their homeland.

Can't say I'd ever do it but hey, my Uncle was in the air force and from there has become a skilled engineer. He walked into the aerospace factory near me, they didn't have a job for him, so they created a department for him to head, no lie. I would never do it but if it's for you it has big rewards (most of the time...)

@Zero- Hell yes! I am proud to serve my country! My family has served all the way back to the Revolutionary war on both sides!

@Amy- You 100% right! If you work hard enough there is a lot of rewards too be had. Benefits can include college repayment while also getting a degree (they pay for credit hours up too $250!), and not to mention the GI Bill after you get done serving.

Thank you all for your strong support! I REALLY appreciate it! You all ROCK! :box:

Once you're in, you're in for life. Just keep in mind of what you want to do when you get out, if at all. A lot of people I know have been unsatisfied with leaving the military, it apparently becomes every aspect about you forever.

Thanks for the support!

I actually read that from some friends and people who got out. They said it was a great lifestyle and they miss it. My brother said that last night too. He wants to re-enlist and he has two kids and a life!

I've always thought military training is a good thing. It helps build up character. People are always talking about how Costa Rica, my home country, is great because it doesn't have an army, and I don't exactly agree with that statement.

I wish you luck, and I hope you don't get sent to war. :)

ive been in the navy for years, here is what i have seen: the army has a amazing PT cycle, they are good to work with and for the most part good people. however if you are joining for education. let me say that their training sucks, trust me im a information system tech, and working with the army guys in the same field is a pain, i have to walk them step by step through everything.

other then that congrats, im glad to have a fellow military person on hbgames :D

Thanks for the support! MEPs tomorrow!

@Juan - Some people enjoy the lack of discipline, but it doesn't seem like everyone agrees with it...Just be a strong determined person, and that's half the lifestyle I suppose. Thanks for your support!

@Vergessen- I'm almost 100% sure you are right about that. From what I read there are a range of people who are near incompetent and the rest have to make up for them...Stories of Comm people having to program microwaves, watches, clocks for officers even at E-9....We'll see how well I score on the ASVAB!

Thanks again! I can't wait too go! Hooah!

You've never seen my picture I take it...6'3"...I thought I was 170 lbs, but I guess I'm 161 as of today.

I'm not worried about the physical part, I'm more worried about the technical stuff, like taking apart a gun, drilling and whatnot. The ASVAB isn't too hard it seems. I scored above average on the practice test so wish me luck!

tschuss ;)

i personally would never join the armed service, just b/c people yelling really stresses me out (and i have asthma & narcolepsy so im out anyway), but doing it is really good for your work ethic and giving you discipline. i've seen total slackjawed gawkers turn into beneficial members of society just from a few years' stint in the marines (i grew up near Camp Pendleton).

so good luck man! i hope you level up your character to like atleast level 43 in there. which is more than enough to beat sephiroth.

Thanks Vene! Sephiroth has nothing on me after this one....I'll be a SOLDIER, sans the blue eyes...more like green! :box:

With so much support, I'm sure I'll do great! THANK YOU!

just a fiair warning dont do toooo good on the asvab or you will never hear the end of: "are you sure you dont want to be a nuke?" lol i wish they would stop asking me

That's awesome, dude. I wish you the best of luck. I used to have plans to enlist but that idea got shot down after I was diagnosed with diabetes. Here's to you, friend!
