[Cuz I've been here for a month or more now XD]
*Ahem* I have a confession to make. I feel I have been leeching off you guys up til this point .__.
I thought, you know... yep, it's another forum, I'll just go in and ask for help, and watch myself get called a newbie x_x Then like... after my first thread asking for help, which I totally forgot what my first thread was by now, but anyway... I just found myself coming back and coming back every time I needed help, because, unlike most forums, I'm actually getting assistance here... no obscure replies that are over my head, no completely overlooking my topics. You know it says not to bump for 72 hours, well my topics are always replied to BEFORE 72 hours is up. So thanks a LOT, I didn't know where else I could say this, but I decided to go ahead and stick it in my intro thread... now... let the introduction begin!
You can call me Doot Tha Loop, or Doot Doot, either one works. If you want I'll even tell you my irl name but I don't want to get too personal here, lol. Anyway... basic facts/info... I'm 21 years old, I live on my own with just my cat, I'm female, and a coffee addict :P Anyway, lets answer those questions, shall we?
* What is your history with RPG Maker and the RPG Maker Community?
I got a copy of RPG Maker VX verrrrry shortly before I joined this forum. Within a few days I had the basics figured out. I chose VX because it was the "new" thing, at that time having no clue about/therefore not taking consideration in things like feature differences from XP or the difference between RGSS and RGSS2, things like that. But then again, looking back if I had known about all that stuff, I would have probably still chosen VX since I enjoy it so much! Seriously, I've enjoyed every last moment working on my game [even those times I got so frustrated, because it would just mean another challenge for me to take on!]. My current project is called "Teh Gaem", and if you're interested I'll have to make a thread on it sometime to show you like screenshots and stuff. Anyway, it's this insane idea I had, why do RPGs have to always be so stereotypical and serious, you know? Throw some jokes in there, in fact, make the whole game a joke, a parody :D I was actually inspired to do this by the Nico Nico Douga RPG [a Japanese RPG Maker game, which I never played btw, lol] but anyway, that game was just pure insanity and I thought... hey I could do this... but BETTER! And so, work began on "Teh Gaem". But anyway... *just realized I was rambling*... lemme answer the second half of the question. This forum is actually the first, but not only, RPG Maker community that I have joined. The other forums I joined, which I shall not name, were not all that helpful to me, and were much smaller than this one. So this is the only one I go to, really. Aside from that, I know about 2 or 3 people [who are not members of this forum] who use RPG Maker, and actually, I know the most about RPG Maker amongst all of us, which isn't that much compared to the RPG Maker veterens that come to RMXPorg. Next question...
* What is your field of expertise in RPG Maker?
Hmm... I'd say I'm a pretty decent spriter :D In fact, if anyone needs sprites [I'm talking like the chibi VX sprites, which I've gotten pretty good at], I'll gladly help! Although I've dabbled with events a lot too, and discovered some tricks [well they've probably been discovered before by someone on here but figuring out new useful things makes me feel special ^_^].
* How did you find the forums?
I found this forum through Google, like I think most people do XD I was just searching for something like uhh... RPG Maker support or something and this was like the first thing that came up :D
* What you hope to get out of the forum?
Well... I hope to learn a lot more than I know now for one thing^^ Although I think at the moment I have enough knowledge to continue on with my game, I know that actually I'll need more help later with some little thing or other. Also... I don't want to be the support leecher that I described at the beginning of this post... I want to make friends on here and be part of the community, and I plan to very soon start posting things outside of the support boards :D
* What kind of creative talents do you have (outside of RPG Maker)?
Computers, computers, computers. I took a few computer classes at the local community college, and within one semester I was building them, when before, I was absolutely afraid to touch the inside of a computer. I've always had a talent for computers, and friends come to me all the time asking for help with various things [though I admit, I cannot always solve the problem, but I try my hardest^^]. The talent mainly involves software, which, I can figure out just about any software within a few days of messing with it, or at least the basics.
* What are your hobbies or interests?
I'm a computer hermit... that is, one of those nerdy people who spend the majority of the day at their computer desk. That's just what I like to do, when I am not playing video games.
* What kind of music do you listen to?
I'd be lying if I said "all kinds", but I think the more accurate statement is "most kinds". The main two genres I would say, are various rock and electronica. I'll listen to anything you give me, and in many cases I'll like it, at least just a little bit. Lately I've been into the more upbeat music, but my music craving changes every so often.
* What level of education are you in? What are you studying in college?
I've graduated high school, and taken a few college classes in Computer IT. However, I decided that college was not for me, at least not now, so I am taking a break. I plan to either return to class, or try for my A+ certification, inevitably.
Well... whoa, I've made a long post. Anyway, my only closing comments are, that I hope you will welcome me, and that I have been a decent member so far in your opinion, and hey, I'm always looking for new friends. So give me a PM, kay? ^_^
