Is there a free trial for RPG Maker XP?

There are alot of people using each. Anyway download.com gives 30 day trials of both.

run the set ups and it should work.

it installs just like any other program. After installation, run the RpgMakerXp exe

It shouldn't do that. When you run it for the 1º time, you have to be connected to the internet, the n if it asks a serial , google it.

I switched to my desktop comp and it works fine now. I'll just stick with it.
BTW: What are the differences between XP and VX?

There are a few differences between the two. The major ones are that VX supports RGSS2, but can only have 5 tilesets, whilst XP only uses RGSS, but can have as many tilesets as you want.

Technically, in vx, you can only have 4 tilesets. the other one is for autotiles.
for a beginner, i suggest vx, because the tilesets that it comes with are nicer than xp's RTP,
and it's easyer to use.
