A meta-story of vitriol, lust and revenge waged across a crumbling universe!
Invisus is the story of one mans journey to right the wrongs he has caused, hindered by the man he has wronged the most. It takes place on an Earth which starts out as an utopia but ends a twisted, ruptured, shivering wasteland as the vendetta between two former allies destroys the land in which they live and threatens to engulf the entire spectrum of human existence.
Synopsis
Its going to be really difficult to write a cohesive story for this topic. It'd be as if Lost told you what the smoke monster was in the first episode. As if you knew the super-villains master plan from the beginning. You know? Any little thing is a spoiler which I think should be revealed at the appropriate time ingame as opposed to being splurged out at the beginning. The most I can give you is the most basic of synopsises (Though anyone who viewed this topic last year will know a good few spoilers =] ). At its most basic, this is a story of revenge, a story of lust and a story of redemption. At its most complicated, it involves life, love, daring sea battles, time travel, sea monsters, giant robots, lust, world domination, giant cannons, war, monsters, ghosts, the end of the universe and Nazis. Seriously. Well, maybe not the Nazis.
Story
Marcus is a man who likes the simple things in life. He likes reading books by the fireside. He likes hearing the rain pounding outside his window, happy in the knowledge that he's tucked up safe and warm in his quilt. He likes the joy of experimentation, of curiosity, of discovery. What he doesn't like is the present day. He doesn't like teenage harlots sprawled on park benches. He doesn't like being shunned and pushed aside for being knowledgeable and not having enough money to buy a Mustang. He doesn't like the smarmy bastards who make his life hell. So when he gets the opportunity to finally change things, he snatches the opportunity. He twists the world around his little finger, from the middle ages to the present day. He snaps the history books in two and builds himself his beautiful vision, a utopia, reaching up into the skies, a perfect example of how life could be. There was just one thing he couldn't count on, and that was the arrival of the man who had made his life a complete and utter misery, from the first day of school to graduation and even now keeps him from ever gaining friends or a meaningful existence outside of the test-tube. John, by some strange twist of fate, has popped into existence in Marcus' perfect world.
When John doesn't go quietly, when he doesn't submit to jail or a life in the suburbs, when he ruins Marcus' world, once again, then John gains a fatal enemy. Watch as the destructive battle between these two men, thrust together by a quirk of fate, turn the universe around them into a wretched, soul-destroying wasteland. As their will is imposed on the universe, it reaches ever closer to breaking point. And it can only take so much...
Characters
John
John is not the sort of protagonist you would be used to playing in an RPG, or anything for that matter. He isn’t a sword wielding, morals toting arcane knight, but he isn’t a dark brooding antihero with a troubled past. He’s rich. He’s so charming you can actually smell it (its not cologne, that’s a natural scent), he’s intelligent and works as a scientist. That being said, just because he’s a scientist doesn’t mean he can automatically wield every type of weapon and drive every type of vehicle known both to man and Combine, like some scientists we could mention. He's egotistical, he's too suave for his suit, he steals hearts with a glancing smile and a cheeky wink. He's the sort of man your mother wouldn't want you to meet.
Craig
Craig used to be a happy-go-lucky sort of kid. He was raised on a farm in America, but always heard stories of the other shore from explorers. He heard stories of England. Stories of Marcus. Stories of London! That vast tower, spiralling out of the wasteland of its beginnings. Hundreds of stories high, beautiful architecture, a masterpiece of the modern world. He has never seen it. His time in England was four hours in a training facility and three years guarding a desolate hole in the ground. He has been turned bitter and cynical by the long hours of loneliness, with only an emergency telescreen for use in case of 'emergencies'. Emergencies. Hah.
Any more characters really would ruin the surprise, and theres little point just giving names =]

A key feature of Invisus is the inclusion of time travel. Because of this feature the world you play in changes with every use of the Time Machine. The Union Jack Republic is but the first of these myriad locations.
Union Jack Republic
Though the UJR spans the entire world, it is only inhabited by civilized people in Europe and a small part of Asia. In the Noble sector (what used to be called Great Britain), where we shall be concentrating, there is only one workplace and everybody works there. The Tower. All across the country are crisscrossed tube and train tracks where millions of commuters all trundle into work. The bottom twenty floors alone are devoted solely to an enormous train station. The tower itself stretches past the clouds. The rest of the civilized areas of the UJR are similar, with a number of towers arching over its people – though, of course, none of them are as large as the Emperors.
The land of North America is devoted to energy production – oil pipes, power plants, geothermal energy. Plans are being made to push energy production down into South America but the locals are being more trouble than previously anticipated. Asia is devoted to food production, the vast tracts of land perfect for fields. Australia has been kept as a prison continent, though more and more of the prisoners have been escaping into Indonesia and the main farming communities in North Asia. Africa was once a holiday destination, with sun sea and safaris but the Hollywood Institution has taken root there and the country is becoming a war zone.
Places to visit
London – The main, in fact only attraction here is the Tower of London, because surrounding it for thirty miles is a wasteland. The Tower holds all the functions of a city – in the first twenty floors there is a hulking train station, designed to carry trains from all over the country. From thereon up are miles and miles of offices where people work keeping the UJR ticking over. Nearer the top, however, the affairs of the workers become more sinister…
Brighton – Once a small farming community, a gas leak forced the populace to escape to avoid the deadly radioactivity of the gas. The cockroaches and other animals that remained, however, were mutated by the radiation and grew to a massive size.
Istanbul – A gigantic city running vertically across one half of a giant dam, with the other half sealed behind and used for generating power. It was originally sealed behind as it was believed to be a God. Istanbul, as well as being the Easternmost civilized city, is the only city which was adapted from the city built before as opposed to being created entirely anew.
