I looked around but searching didn't bring anything up...
How do you make an inn like in RM2K3 and such?

Well, giving us some more information to work with would be in your best interest. What maker are you currently using? What about the RM2k3 inns are you looking for? Not everyone knows (like me!).

Sorry, I have time on the internet right now since its not working at home.
I forget these things when I rush.
I'm using XP.
What I need to have happen is this.
You talk to inn keeper and pay 15 gold coins. The screen turns black for a few seconds, plays a little ditty, then returns to normal and your party is restored to health.

Thats what I need.
I got most of it down, the screen just wont turn black and it doesnt play the little ditty till after the event.

Have you tried using Screen Flash to make the screen black?

Like, you could have the music play, then use Screen Flash to make the screen to black for a number of frames (depending how long the song is) and use the Wait feature for the same number of frames so the player can't do anything. O.o

Screen Flash is not what you'd want here. Instead, Change Screen Tone, wait, Change Screen Tone would be what I'd go with. Play ME should do for musical effects.

No, guys, it might not be working because he/she has a parallel process event that sets the tone of the map and/or an Auto change BGM for the Map's properties.

@Text: Whatever your characters say.
@Change gold: Decrease by the amount you choose.
@Set Screen Tone to something dark (move all the sliders left for a nice dark effect)
@Play ME
@Wait for 40 (the number is due to change of course) frames
@Set Screen Tone back to normal (all sliders 0)
@Recover all Party

If you use premade pie crusts, sure. But if you're trying to make one from scratch, getting the perfect flaky/tender combination is a lot of work.

Oh, sure. And if you're just asking for a pie crust, that's fine.

The problem, of course, is when somebody comes on and basically asks someone to make the entire pie for them-- crust, filling, everything-- and doesn't even want to pay for it.

Plus I'm tired of seeing all the n00bs ask why it's important to rest a pie after cooking...

Guys, you're forgetting about ine of the biggest parts, the condition branch. If you don't put a branch in, the player can use it even if he doesn't have to money.

If Gold =>100 then
"run Inn"
else
End.

Very true, but what the OP asked about was darkening the screen and playing the ME, so that's what I answered.
