Hi,

So as you may or may not know, two games of the same genre are coming out this year, these games are inFamous (PS3 Exclusive) and Prototype (PS3, 360 + PC). If you don't know about either of the games, or just need a reminder, here are the wiki links and a few gameplay videos from YouTube;

inFamous:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InFamous
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9-qmof4EXo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4WwsQm9 ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP3Ur3Ahn_g

Pros:
Graphics look better than Prototype
Since there's only one sort of power it should have more focus and play better
Cons:
Yeah, only one power
Can't think of any others

Prototype:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we0Fkj6XkPY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2nXh2Bl ... re=related

Pros:
You have more powers to choose from
Cons:
The graphics don't seem too "Next gen"
Since there's so many skills, some may play better than others, which means skills may be underpowered or majorly overpowered.

And I found this Prototype vs inFamous video:

Well I most likely won't be buying either as I don't spend enough time on any of my consoles to buy new games. I tend to stick to the ones I already have unless something really impresses me but if I were to buy one it'd be most likely Prototype, inferior graphics? Yes. Faster paced and by the looks of it a lot more exciting gameplay? In my opinion yes. Judging from the videos the static single element would get very repetetive in inFamous and most likely dull, fast. Though like I said I don't play console games an awfull lot but Prototype looks a lot of fun.

I'll definitely be getting both, but as far as Prototype goes, I'll be grabbing that on the PC.

Yeah, as we've talked about it on MSN, lol.

I'll definately be getting inFamous as I've been hyped about it since it's anouncement and after seeing those pictures of it in 2005, the game seems alot more solid since they've had more time to focus on the one power, and from what I've seen (I've seen ALOT of videos of it), they all look amazing and the gameplay seems to move smoothly.

Prototype however, I can see the potential, but it doesn't seem like it pulls it off, I mean, the way it's set out and the storyline of it etc. seems like it should be a movie, not a game, the graphics seem REALLY bad to me, as if it was made for the PS2 or original XBOX but they decided to bring it out on the next gen consoles without making changes. I can't see this being a buy for me unless I see it for under £20 which will most likely be in a year or two times.

So, graphics are a major selling point for you? They aren't as much for me. There can be a game with the best graphics ever, but could be really repetitive, which is what inFamous looks like it could be.

Nope I never said graphics are a major selling point, but they sure do help a game, like when GTA4 first came out, everyone was buying it saying the graphics were amazing, and a few weeks later were saying how bad the gameplay is and it's not worth it. Sure, inFamous could be like that, but it could also be much better, games are better when they have nice gameplay and visuals, thats why I prefer Oblivion to Fallout 3 (The graphics on Fallout 3 are disgusting), and just while were on the topic of graphics being a selling point... HAVE YOU SEE KILLZONE 2 !? IT'S WORTH THE MONEY JUST TO LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS ON THAT GAME, and the gameplay is amazing too, lol, from what I've played of the demo ofcourse.

And you say it could be really repetitive, well if you think about it, so could Prototype, it's pretty much the same thing just more powers, the thing that I think is good about inFamous, is that you're not some dude with superhuman strength who can run at the speed of light or jump higher than a building (Crackdown jumping anyone ?), you move just like an average person except you can hurl lightning, yeah you can grind along telephone wires but thats something you'd WANT to to if you had enough resistance to withstand the voltage, lol.

So all in all, I prefer it cause you're not some overpowered "ITS OVER 9000" guy who kills people by looking at them and is built like a brick shithouse, cause those things are lame.

And yes I'm aware I said a meme, you gonna sue me ?

Yeah but Matty, you're forgetting, if you sue me, I can't buy Killzone 2 and we can't go on Multiplayer together like you wanted so you've just fucked yourself over

I think, as far as both games go, they are both going to be awesome. I'm definitely going to 'acquire' Prototype just for the multiplayer aspect of it, and simply because of the sheer amount of destruction that is allowed in that game. inFamous, on the other hand, I'm going to purchase because of the story, visuals and everything else that's being promised with that game (such as how civilians react to you, the powers, etc). inFamous really looks like a much much more polished game, plus you've got the 50gb blu-ray disk to put SHIT tons more information on over the bullshit 360 15gb "HD-DVD".

360 uses DVd not HD DVD

That makes it even worse...

It doesn't make the ps3 'better' either. It aint the size thats important... its what you do with it!

Yeah but you can do more with a Dual Layer Bluray Disc, even though that may be a tad too big and there aren't many games that've filled one, MGS4 being an example.

So if there's more room, and they don't have to worry about a Port cause it's exclusive, they can concentrate on filling that space with something that will really wow the players, don'tcha think ?

man i just finished playing the Infamous Demo and wow... the game is awesome. wasn't going to get it originally but now im going to buy it later today :D

InFamous, without a single doubt .
The comic book style is cool, the total freedom is amazing and the good/bad powers really make a difference!
Cole is a cool character to!
I played this game's demo like .. well to much (and played full game at friends house I can say i'm sold to it)

EDIT: I've also looked up some sores of InFamous on Gamerankings and I can say most sites give this gme a near perfect score, and I readed some reviews to and I can say NO review says the game is repetive! And for what i played of it (about 3 hurs accual game and lots more demo xD) It didn't bothered me (I first also though it would be like AC when it come to repetivity)

The game (inFamous) is EXTREMELY repetitive.. However, it doesn't feel that way if you only play for a few hours at a time. I played it WAY too long on the day I got it, and I was getting pissed by the time I turned it off. I got to the second island and I couldn't climb where I wanted to since I was so frustrated by stuff :P It all boils down to using the same power over and over (since I'm good, and don't really want to hurt civilians). So, since I'm good, I don't really use explosives/blast wave at all, unless I'm on the rooftops.. maybe that's why. Between the first and second islands, there's no difference in the enemies other than their appearance. They do the same exact things.. shoot you with guns or kamikaze. The Conduit enemies (Lieutenant type enemies, way stronger than normal) are different immensely, but I won't say how.

The good/bad thing is pretty dumb.. you accidentally hit ONE fucking person and you can really see your alignment bar move, albeit it's a VERY small movement, but it takes at LEAST 10+ heals (or live captures, or a combination) to get it back.. doesn't make sense to me. Climbing can be a bit annoying at times. Sometimes I feel that Cole is WAY too sticky. When I want to drop down to a ledge, you have to keep hitting O to drop to a new ledge, and sometimes that means hitting it about 10 times. Don't know why they didn't make it so you could hold it and continue to drop. A lot of times I don't even want to stick to a ledge, I just want to jump away and he sticks to shit. Again, it all comes back to me being good.. and not wanting to use the thunder drop power (explode when you hit the ground).

Evil play through is going to be so goddamn easy..

EDIT: One thing that's funny, is when you watch some people, they sometimes fall over for no reason. Then they lay there waiting for you to heal them.. those greedy bastards.

Lol I notice that more people are saying inFamous since they've had a taste of the demo or played the game, guess what Matty, I GOTS IT TODAY, WOO !

Yeah like I said in the original post, inFamous was the one for me, and so far I'm fucking LOVING it.
