Is the Simpsons episode with the boy band and L.T Smash based on true events? Do the Navy really try and recruit people through backwards sentences in pop songs?

That's probably not true but the government have been known to place subliminal content into everyday media (news channels, etc.)

Madmax, not recently. Well, at least, not in Britain. Subliminal advertising was outlawed over here in like the late 70s on account of it being "violation of trust laws".

Not saying that there haven't ever been cases, but I doubt it's in everyday stuff.

They don't need subliminal advertising. They get away with doing the exact opposite and spamming obvious propaganda everywhere. Then they find a good used car salesman, slap a crow on his arm and tell him to sucker some saps into signing up.

That seems a little wrong. Even if they were desperate, they should do it the honest way, and not just spam everything with advertisements and propaganda.

Well it's not as bad as "propaganda" implies, but they are definitely stretching the truth very, very thin.

Like I said, there are definitely some amazing opportunities. My biggest problem is the deception they use in an effort to convince people to commit a very long period of their life to somethng quite irreversable.

there are pitfalls in joining the army especially with the kind of technological level such as the US. don't agree to be a lab rat if you can't handle the changes they'll do to you.

(i still think during 9/11 there was no plane near the pentagon. something else crashed there)

I'm not big on 9/11 conspiracy theories myself.

They do like lab rats, though. At least they wait for you to volunteer... :-/
