I'm getting tired of long games...

Chrono Trigger was a big rental for me, I rented it, and luckily next week rented it again (because I ended up not being able to play it the first time) and actually got the same cartridge I had. I continued my story and beat it on that 2nd rental. Still bought the game.
I actually ended up marking the case so I made sure I got the same copy the next week ;) Still only made it to the fated hour :\ I did eventually buy it on the PS1 (and finally beat it)

I suppose that was one downside of long games when I was renting back on the SNES... if you didn't beat it in 3 days, it was hard to get the same game again. I did the beginning of FF6 at least 3 times because of that. Kinda soured me towards the game until I finally beat it years later. Memory cards solved that though.

I still rent games on a purely trial basis. Most games I just buy, but every once and a while a good rental can fix any fence sitting I'm doing.

There used to be a place in the town where I grew up that let you rent anything for 8 days for 99 cents. They never got anything until like six months after it came out, so it was like bargain renting.

Also, in case anyone was worried about Eternal Sonata being a waste of time, I've been blessed with a stomach illness that has permitted me to play it pretty much all day, and I can say it most certainly is not a waste of time, and I hear it's only about 25 hours long, anyway.

I believe games that are short, but have lots to unlock are really fun, like Ape Escape. Thats an addicting game for me and its just the best length [Ape Escape 1, 2 and 3] perfect for replaying or a quick game or so, those sort of games are the ones that I like. But sadly I cant find much of those sorts of games anymore due to the new systems and the "simple" style of games seem to have been wiped out!

I'm waiting for the day games get so long that we start looking back at games like Joust and Tetris and say to each other
"Wow... that was disappointing!"
"I know wasn't it?"
"Like, so could they made that game any shorter? Hello?!"
Group laugh... apparently in the future 80's malltalk is making a comeback, like so ginormously!

Most of my games only take about 3 hours, if you know what you are doing.

Some like Resident Evil 4 however, take twice as long. Again, it all comes down to how good you are at the game. Even pros don't always achieve the 7 hour mark. :)

Long games are good!! The longer they are the more you can enjoy them. I hate short, good games. Like HL2: Episode One, you enjoy every frame of the game, but when it ends your brain isn't satisfied enough.
And what would be Oblivion if you could beat it in 50 hours?

Personally I do enjoy longer games now that I am older, but it can hinder you as an adult. I recently rented LoZ: TP 2 weeks ago to be caught up in the zelda universe, and it took me the entire 7 day rental period, plus 1 extra hour, that I had to re-rent it for. And I think when I was younger I re-rented games all the time if I didn't beat it. I grew up on SNES and Sega Genesis. I actually didn't get into Final Fantasy until I was older, I liked Zelda more, which is probably why I love Zelda more than FF games.

I remember playing Vector Man over and over for hours then popping in Sonic and Knuckles, then playing Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, etc etc. For hours on end.

I played all the Half Life games, and was quite impressed, though I still feel a bit, empty after the last episode, it doesn't feel finished.

As well, I'm one of the few people, who can beat Oblivion in about less than 5 days, everything in it. I think my ending time was around 35-40 hours, and I did every quest, side quest, best gear, millions of gold, etc. I just knew lots of different ways to get around, and never spent a second wasting time. I think I reached the 50 hour mark after beating the expansion pack to Oblivion.

I recently beat Metroid Prime 3: Corruption within 3 days of 7 hours or less each night, and I worked 8 hours in the day time. I was disappointed it was so short, but please to finally reach the end of the great series... even then I beat the game with 98%.

So am I getting tired of long games, nah, I appreciate them, and feel more satisfied with them. Because I beat LoZ: TP and MP3:C at basically the best you can, I won't buy them, no point, I don't think I would replay them after spending so many hours getting the upgrades and extra stuff. Just a waste of time to me.

Tomorrow, I am getting Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, hopefully it will be as long if not longer than Wind Waker was, that was such a good game to me, I enjoyed it, different twist on the zelda series.
