I'm back - Epileptic Coma.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Hi everyone,

So some of you may or may not have noticed, I haven't been active on the forums since last Saturday, and the reason for this has been quite serious if I might say so...

You see, throughout my life, I've been suffering from epilepsy, however, it isn't the kind that triggers with flashing lights etc, it only happens during my sleep, but in the waking phases, my muscles will tighten up, and I will have spasms where my body shakes furiously, this has become quite common over the past few months, having them around twice a week, but only lasting for up to 2 minutes each, and then I'll wake up knowing nothing of it except for the side-effects, which just consist of aches around my body.

However, on Sunday morning, around 11am, I fell into an epileptic fit while asleep, and remained in the spasm stage for 12 minutes, now, the limit is 5 minutes and then it becomes serious, and 999 MUST be called (911 for americans), as it is considered a serious health risk. Due to the length I was in, I fell into a coma, which lasted until 6:30am wednesday morning, which was really scary, as I was in a state, where I could hear people, although very muffled, I could feel people, but I couldn't react in any way, it dragged and dragged, and I'd hate for anyone to have to feel what I felt while in it.

I was sent for MRA scans etc. to see if they could find a cause for my epilepsy (As it had developed greatly over these few months), and am awaiting results, which should come in the next few weeks.

I had to stay overnight in the hospital, and was safely allowed to leave and come home around three hours ago, I've now been home for almost two hours, I've just been watching Bruno, it's pretty funny but damn it's got some serously gay parts, lol.

I just thought I'd let people know where I'd been gone, as it was a little unexpected, and why I'd been gone. I'd also like to apologise to the members of the eZine team, as I was hoping to have helped with the .ORGy awards articles etc, I'm not sure if they've been done yet or not, but if not, I would really appreciate if I were given the chance to work on one of the articles for it, although you guys will have to help me out, since my mind is completely blank at the moment, due to the medication they were giving me while in my coma (I hate needles !).

Thank you to those who can be mature and understanding about this, and I'll answer any questions if you might have any.

PS - You know what else sucks, this medication they gave me, well they said that I have to go a whole three years without having a fit before I can start driving, which means I won't be able to drive legally until age 21 ATLEAST, and if I have any fits between now and then, then it'll be even longer. Does that suck or what !?

Awesome Bro

Thanks pal, I'm actually really glad to have woken up so early, I mean, coma's can go on years, I'm happy mine didn't, cause it really was the worst experience ever, it just felt like I went to sleep on saturday, and was having a REALLY long dream, where I could hear and feel people instead of see, I couldn't move, couldn't speak, and couldn't see, I had this physician dude constantly telling me "Jason, if you can hear me, please try to move your arm", but it wasn't working, it was like being in a dream, where you're not inside you body, you want to do something, but can't, and it just dragged on and on, it was so fucking scary...

Damn that really sucks for you, I hope you make it through the shit ahead
No driving shudder

Well anyway thank goodnes you're alive, its nice to be able to still see around the forums
Can't imagine what it would be like
without JBrist standing over me preparing to impale me with his PS3

Er, by the way how was Bruno? Is it worth watching?
Oh and one more think - My brother recently bought Naruto Clash of Ninja 2 - I think you know what to do ;)

Jason

Awesome Bro

Thanks you two, and yeah as said, I'm glad I'm back myself, seriously, I wouldn't want ANYONE to go through a coma, especially not for a long period of time, I mean, I was lucky it was only 4 days, but I'm just so happy to be back to my everyday life, lol.

holy shit

my mom had a coma a long while back that lasted for 2 weeks but she said she didn't even realize any time had passed, like she blinked and it was 2 weeks later.

I guess it affects everyone differently, and you got the shitty version. So sorry man :(!

Jason

Awesome Bro

Yeah, my version WAS shitty, and amazingly scary, to be honest, I wish I could've just blinked and it'd be over, but no matter what I tried, nothing was working for me, as said, it was like I wasn't even in my body, but I really am glad I'm back, and also that it was only for 4 days, although I'm sort of suffering from short-term memory loss, I can't remember much of what happened before sunday, and I've got Matty (psiclone) on MSN trying to help me figure out what I was doing before, since it's all just a blank to me, my head is fuzzy, and I hear this high pitched buzzing noise, I keep losing my balance, and it sucks, he told me we were playing LittleBigPlanet togehter on friday, I can't even remember ANY of that, all I can remember is hearing voices, and waking up yesterday, everything else is just a blurry mess to me o.O

Damn, JBrist. I'm with you. My case is not as serious a yours but I was hospitalized a while back as well, since I have some strange desease that can easily kill people an since it so rare, most doctors don't recognize it.
So I thought I had bad luck, but your story is ten times worse...
I hope your test results are okay and they find a way to make you become better.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Thanks for that, I'm sorry to hear you've got something too, I should be getting my test results in a few weeks, and I'm hoping they can find a way to prevent these from happening, cause they really do suck, especially since I've had them all my life =\

I'm glad you're ok! It must be a relief to be out of that coma, and to be back home. Hopefully they'll find what's causing this soon and heal it.
Using the time to watch comedies is a good idea ^^

Jason

Awesome Bro

Indeed it is, I've just been in the other room watching Two and a Half Men for an hour, yay me !

And oh god yes it's a relief being home again,

When I get my results I'll be sure to post about 'em on this thread.

Jason

Awesome Bro

... You can't be serious, lol...

But heh, always nice to know someone here loves me, lol, and hey, I'm back now, right

WB, JB. I hope they get that shit squared away. That's pretty scary.

You should have concentrated on the chick in Wyatt's avatar. You'd have made a tent in the sheets! :scruff:

Be Well (for real)

Jason

Awesome Bro

Haha yeah thanks for that, but sadly there isn't enough of her to make a tent, maybe a speed bump, lol... besides, I was in a coma, don't think I could've if I tried, haha.

I thought all the comas are just sleep, with your body inactive, nothing scary, you just wake up and everything's fine.

But seriously, 4 days straight with your mind active? Oh goodness... Imagine, dark space, no friends... EEK!

Good to have you back lol.

Jason

Awesome Bro

Well before I fell into one, I always assumed the same as you, just sleep etc. but oh god no, it was completely different, I was absolutely terrified, I mean, being able to hear and feel people and things going on, but not being able to communicate back (talk, move, see), is THE worst thing you could ever feel.

Wow Jbrist thats pretty intense. Id hate to have to go through that.
Well at least your ok now, how you described being in the coma it wouldnt have been fun to be like that for longer...
Imagine what its like for people in comas for extended amounts of time....

Anyway, glad to have you back and such.
Sucks about the driving though...
