vx has a better framerate, and a smaller resolution (a plus in my book). unfortunately it also has an idiotic resource/graphic management system (why the hell do i have to import my character graphics in sets of six?!). apparently it's coding is more efficient, as well?

If you're a new RPG Maker user, just use VX for now, because it's easier to use for beginners. But if you absolutely can't stand the way it works, try using XP. Basically, RPG Maker VX is the newest version. RPG Maker XP is a few years old, but they both have their advantages and disadvantages. I'm personally sticking with XP.

You don't have to import them in sets of six, putting ! or $ in the front of the name of the image will cause VX to set it's size for it.

In my opinion, every advantage VX had over XP (RGSS2) was destroyed with Dargor's tutorial on how to implement RGSS2 into XP.  Besides, VX's tileset system is retarded.  It only lets you have five shitty layers of one tileset?

Since when!? I thought it had less than XP.

This is very epic failure, if you can't decide what program to use, you won't finish your game, and don't come looking for slaves to create your masterpiece you probably made up with your imaginary friends inside your head.

Hi , i used XP now, because there is this mog script that i found here.  i guess it will be easier for me to edit and put my design unlike in VX i can't  find enough scripts that i need since it is a new rpg maker program ...

As much as I bitch about VX it can do everything that XP can plus more.  The only problem is that you have to use scripts for a lot of those features that are built-in to XP.

You should take a look at panorama maps w/ VX though it's pretty neat for those that think mapping in VX is awful looking.  It doesn't have to be.

I guess which one you choose should depend on what features you want to be built in to you editor.

I would say stick with XP.
You can implement RGSS2 with RPG Maker XP anyways.
If you want higher resolution, just make bigger stuff.
There are scripts already out there that handle movement etc. for larger characters.
When it comes down to it, the script is all that matters.
Anything you want to change, you can do through script; and all the built-in stuff is better in XP anyways.

Deciding which one to use is more of a personal preference issue, which means you have to make that decision yourself. People can give you advice as to what program supports what features... but in the end they can't decide for you.
I don't see why some of you got so irritated with this question.
People who are new to the rpg maker programs aren't going to know
about the technical stuff, which definately can help them decide based on which features they need. And Axerax, your post was completely unnecessary. The best way to learn is to ask. You don't need to insult people just because they don't know as much as you.
To use your term, that kind of attitude is "EPIC FAIL."
