Illegal Programs, now legal?

Yes, but a multi-billion dollar company buying 800 copies of Photoshop nets them a discount from Adobe.

It's just how business works.

Just a helpful reminder - please don't openly admit to pirating software in here.

I don't want to have to kill you.

(And if you're a student, it's not hard to get photoshop for ~$100. I got the entire Adobe CS2 for $340 from my college bookstore.)

WOOO High Five!

I have a legal copy of Photo Shop as well.. I hardly use the dang thing but none the less it's a legal copy..

I will say this.. I have downloaded a few illegal copies of programs just to see how they work.

Like I downloaded this one freaken program that cost 29.99 and all it did was tell you your IP Address............................

I also found another stupid one that automatically cleaned out your cookies and temp internet files........
(PS: It didn't work)

When it comes to bigger...more important programs if I want it bad enough I'll get a legal copy for one... I like my updates for two..... I like my updates.

oh yes i must say something about the topic... I tell you what's nice...
playing your Nintendo games on your Dreamcast. =D

you know whats really amazing? About 98% of you have downloaded some form of "pirated" software and the other 2% are lying because they can. Do any of you here believe seriously that no one here is guilty of it? Whats worse is that you come here and act holy against piracy. Heres the bottom line:

Piracy makes big money!

Why you ask? Because it drives people to spend money against piracy which never works. someone always finds their way around it.

And I don't know where you get your info about downloading a ROM for 24 hours then deleting it? I hate to break it to you, but thats 100% legality. That contract was written by the RIAA and GIVEN to these so-called pirate sites. They in return get paid for hosting old roms and "Abandonware". Don't believe me? Look it up. Things haven't changed and they never will. Quit acting self-righteous about things you yourself have done. it just makes you look bad. If piracy were a real crime then why invent CD/DVD burners and the internet. Someone knew what they were doing long before the hype caught on. Its there but you pretend you don't see it. You can't resist taking a small peak too I bet.

As far as emulation goes? If the ROM isn't so-called "legal" then why have emulators. Quite a paradox indeed. I just love looking at replies that get aggresive towards piracy. Those are the ones who has or is dabbling in it. You can bitch and moan all you want about what I write. Frankly, I couldn't care less. Its just words and nothing more.

Woah...Woah... someone get this guy some Flex..

I'm sure there are people on here who have no downloaded illegal software due to them not knowing where to get it from.
As far as that contract thing... that sounds very stupid. I'm sure if I ask someone from a ol' skool rom site about that they would prolly laugh.
I really don't understand this "Makes you look bad notation"
CD burner was invented to place data on it.
The internet was not invented just for piracy whoever invented the internet doesn't give a flying flip about pirates. I know if I invented the internet I'd be so loaded I wouldn't need to pirate.
I really don't understand the whole peaking thing... kinda creepy...
Also Roms where before emulators, emulators were built to play those roms and also to play you own games made or edited.

last note. lol Obviously you care a lot Mr. Passionate Poster.

Just as a historical note, the internet was created by a major university in the 1970's to share data files among their numerous buildings. No piracy involved.

Almost all emulators are developed for homebrew development and trying to catch the commercial eye, (or just for the fun of console development). You can't stop people using them for commercial ROMs, but lots of the people really involved in the whole emulation 'scene' get pretty angry about ROM theft. For one thing, it makes them look bad.

This site does not condone piracy, or allow its discussion. It doesn't matter how many people do it. It doesn't matter if you do it. It is against the law and detrimental to the gaming industry. Do you talk about smoking pot in front of teachers? "But everyone does it!" is not a very good excuse for anything.

Then perhaps we can stifle the ROM discussion. I don't care on the subject either way, so lets leave it at that. I know my history and I know what people are capable of. Its not a problem thats going to go away and we all need to accept and acknowledge it at some point.

With that said, I think there really is no more use for this thread. We've all pretty much said our peace so lets depart before this erupts into a war on ROMs.

I just wish I had backup copies of games like the original Silent Hill, that you just can't find anymore.

I'm also happy to say that I own a legit copy of Adobe Photoshop which I bought for $200 on Amazon. :)
