I need your opinion...Its my first Characterset (PA)

All I have been doing latley is franken sprites and recolors. I have attempted my first sprite. I looked at the pixel academy and tryed making a color pallette for my shading. I hope its well. Well, I made this board for your opinion of my sprite so here it is.

First things first - it's heavily pillow shaded. Try looking at some shading tutorials. There's several good ones in the stickied 'Spriting Tutorial Thread'.
Second - the hair isn't shaded. It's just an outline along with a fill color. Try shading in the strands... Venetia's HK Hair Tutorial should help you here. It's in the Tutorials Board.
Third - the collar of the shirt seems very strange to me. It's far too wide, and comes up too high.
Fourth - Hair casts a shadow. Try shading the skin under the hair a darker color.
Fifth - Clothes cast a shadow. The pants should cast a shadow as well.
Sixth - Avoid adding in the corners. This probably doesn't make sense to you, but what I mean is that corners should be closer to a '\' shape than an 'L' shape, if that makes it clearer.
Seventh - Breasts stand out. I couldn't tell that the character was female until I looked at the template. The breasts should be a shade lighter than the rest of the shirt, and have a darker area below them.
Eighth - Try using a premade palette for now. There's some great ones in the HKCP thread. As of now, I'd stick to using premade palettes, as they have enough shades and are ramped well.
Ninth - Try adding more colors. As is, the hair and headband look very flat.

Hope this helps!

I'm not much of a reviewer I'm afraid, but here goes...

The one thing everyone on here will say is: avoid pillow shading! Merely keeping the edges dark and the middle light isn't enough; you need to shade the contours of the body. Someone can probably direct you to a tutorial on it, but I'd check Google if I was you. The internet's infested with shading tutorials.

The colour choice isn't bad, but I'd recommend that you use contrasting light and dark to add definition to items of clothing. The blue and the purple look quite similar at a glance, and it brings down the overall quality. Go for contrasting colours, and if needs be, add belts, trims, sashes or anything to border items of clothing.

The color of the clothing does not match the body color, it looks like you just got an image and pasted it on there. Keep trying.

Hows this, for the hair and clothes. I went to Ven's HK Hair tutorial.. Hope I improved. I added it up there.

I took down all the pant attempts too.

I haven't added the shadow from the hair yet but I plan to. I know I need to fix it so no need to include it in your further comments.
