I need some code!

Hi guys,

Long time reader, new poster :)

I've been doing abit of RPG Maker XP for a while now, and starting to use abit more of scripting side of things, however, I've looked around on a number of forums trying to find a simple script that will allow me to temporary add a new Actor during a quest (pretty much like a Lost & Found Quest), and when the quest is complete, return that actor to the person that gave the quest.

I've seen a few party member changing scripts, but I do not believe it's something I am after?

Can anyone post up an example for me?

Thank You.

Couldn't you just do that with events? Like have the person who gave you the quest, be activated with a switch, and have a conditional branch checking to see if so and so is in your party, and if so, choose the event command, change part member-->then remove...If that makes sense. If not, I can write up a tutorial for ya, or am I just completely off and not getting you right?

I'm trying not to do it that way.

Because that would mean that I would have to create a new actor by going to Tools > Database > Actors Tab, and permanently add a an Actor there? I'm trying to do this via scripting because it's only going to be used once or twice, in the game.

Trust me, adding a new actor will probably be much easier than trying to create a "temporary" one via scripting. You're probably not going to reach the limit of actors (99 or 999?) so I wouldn't worry about it. Even if it's only going to be used once or twice in game, it's much simpler to do it this way.
