Introduction
I created this simple event based system for my game, but i think it's worth posting here as well. It's a hunts system (as seen in Final fantasy XII).
What does this system do?
if you use this system, you can have NPC's who are searching for a hunter to kill a certain beast. In return, they will give you items, money etc. just as in Final Fantasy XII, you will first have to go to a billboard to read bills from people who are searching a hunter. only if you have read about the hunt, you can finalize the contract with the NPC. Only when you have formalized the contract with the NPC, the beast will appear on screen. (You will see the beast' charset on the map, wich is better imo). When you kill the beast, you have to bring some kind of proof that you killed it. in return, you will get items etc.
I decided to include a demo instead of explaining how to do it, because i used some pictures and i'm bad at explaining things :p
A cool add-on for this system could be a Hunter's bestiary. So, only the marks you have killed will appear in this bestiary, so it's some sort of trophy room. (if anyone is willing to do this, plz PM me ^^)
