I just joined and wanted to say hello to everyone. I read the post about different topics to cover in your introduction, so I figured I just breeze through them all as a way to let everyone get a little familiar with me. But first, a few personal details:
My real name is Bradley, I'm 29 years young and I live in a small Ohio city that sits on Lake Erie. I have a fiance that I've been with for 5 years this July, and we have an adorable 1 year old son together. (And I *REALLY* mean adorable. Not in that sense that every parent thinks their kids is cute when they're really not. [He must get it from his mother, cause he sure as hell doesn't get it from me.]) Now let's get to the good stuff...
What is your history with game creation and the game making community?
--Pretty novice all around. A couple years ago I had an epiphany about what I wanted to do with my life; and making games was the answer. I enrolled in college the upcoming semester and begin to fulfill my dream. My classes had me working almost entirely in Game Maker, with a short 2 week course in Alice. I actually haven't touched GM (or done any game design) since then, and I'm afraid I may have forgotten everything I once knew. A tragedy this past year turned my life upside down when I lost my father unexpectedly. Then one day not so long ago I decided to quit putting off things for tomorrow and start living for today. So I came back to the life I wanted and now I've been working with RPGM XP and RPGM VXAce for the past month or so.
What is your field of expertise in game making?
--Yikes! Not entirely sure I have one? I guess if anything it's probably story-telling and creative-thinking. With time and work I'm sure a mechanical skill will pop up on this list as well.
How did you find the forums?
--I found a link through the RPG Maker Web's facebook.
What you hope to get out of the forum?
--Everything! Support, opinions, constructive criticism, new ideas and networking. Winning lottery numbers would be nice too, but I won't hold my breath.
What kind of creative talents do you have (outside of game creation)?
--I've always had a knack for writing. Back in my early teen years I thought I was destined to be an author until I realized it was my cup o' tea. I later became involved in theater my junior year in high school and landed quite a few big roles. I even ended up the president of drama club my senior year.
What are your hobbies or interests?
--This list could go on a long ways. Let's just say video games, music, movies, et cetera et cetera.
What kind of music do you listen to?
--EVERYTHING! I love music! The only things I'm not too keen on is Death Metal and Gangsta Rap, but even then I occasionally dabble. A few of my favorites are Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, George Strait, Hank Williams Jr, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, Panic! at the Disco, The Dresden Dolls, The Goo Goo Dolls, Joe Diffie, Jim Croce, Elton John, Def Leppard, Jason Mraz, Brooks and Dunn, Meatloaf, Alabama, Beach Boys, The Who...... really this list could go on for hours.
What level of education are you in? What are you studying in college?
--As I mentioned earlier I went to school for Game Design. I completed 2 semesters with a 3.8 GPA but took a hiatus when my fiance got pregnant. I still have every intention of going back and perhaps once I can get my family's affairs back in order I can can re-enroll this spring. *finger crossed*
Well there you have it. That's the whole jist of me. I look forward to diving into the forums and getting to know everyone. Ciao!
