How to make it so game saves can be transferred

At the end of the chapter, have the player go to a specific map to save on. Then when you create the new chapter, make sure to keep that map. Ask the player to copy their save files into the new game's folder. they should be able to load their data properly because they're on a map that still exists.
 
Just make sure that older saves, like on older maps that you arent carrying over wont bug up stuff.
Like lets say you tried to load a map from Chapter 1, which was maps 1-10 into chapter 2
You, the game maker, forced me to save on map 10, and carried that over to Chapter 2, making chapter 2 maps 10-20.
What if I had a save from map 7?
If I tried to load it in the chapter 2 game files, it would bug up.

It works if you restrict menu/save access in your game.
If not, then stuff might get messed up.
