How to make charsets

Hello.
Can any one tell me or point me in the direction of a tutorial that will teach me to make my own charsets and import them into RMXP in a way that they'll function properly ^^
Also, are there any tricks to importing a new battle graphic, or is that pretty much self explanatory?
Thanks in advance.

The charsets need to be of a certain size to function correctly, that size alludes me at the moment but I am sure someone will know. If nothing else just export one or two to a folder and use them for size templates.

The battle graphic you mean I assume is just a battler? Just import the image and set the transparency and ur done.

unlike 2k3 and earlier rms, there is no required size for charsets. in XP, all you need is for the width and height to be multiples of 4, and the editor will chop it up into even 4x4 sections to provide the separate frames of movement. it's important to make sure that each frame is properly aligned in its own "cell" and remember which rows represent which direction (I can't remember offhand, but a quick look at any charset from the RTP will show you which is which) but aside from that you're pretty much free.

importing things is fairly straightforward (especially battler graphics) -- just make sure that the "background colour" (the one you're going to choose to be transparent) isn't used anywhere on the sprite itself and is a uniform colour (so you won't get bits of strange colours floating around the edges of your battlers.)
