They've gotten much better. Other than that, EA would be an awesome place to work. Swimming pools and weight rooms? Niiiice.

I worked in a converted apartment.
I like to be a rainy cloud. [:

But you know.. people only report the bad stuff, and not the good. Like 72 hour weeks with no overtime pay. @__@

Yeah EA has gotten a lot better with their working conditions.
I remember seeing a thing on Tech TV
They were talking about GT4 or 3 they showed EA's work place
and it looked nice as hell some people that work there slept under their
desk because they said everything they need is in that building.
Sad if you ask me..

I'm making games as a hobby. I plan to touch up on my drawing "skills" (If you've seen my drawings...I'm 13 so I still have a few more years until I know if I'm actually going to be good or not).

You're at an advantage, like the rest of the younger members. The earlier you start with RM, or computers and drawing, game design in general, you're already ahead of some of the older, more talented members.

:p I found a game design folder from when I was 8. Yay.

I think that it is agreed upon that game design from hobby-> work, is not a good approach to the career. However, who else is better than those who enjoy it and are actually good at the little things? Especially those so young.

------------

I don't think I would be a very good professional, though. I'll just make indie games till I die. :3
And assuming I live until 86, I still have 72 years. :D

Lol, that's because there isn't much good at many places :)

Seriously folks, the 17 of you that said you wanted to work in the industry should consider another one, at least with the jobs I think you guys would want. If not, talk to people currently in it and see what you'd be getting into. Working as a janitor picking up shit all day is better than some of the workplaces friends have been in

I put myself through worse most likely. Like the last time I did a project, I stayed up for 3 days straight coding, and for food I was basically just eating sunflower seeds and I think I went out and got taco bell one time during that period. I doubt I'd get that sort of treatment (since it's kind of inhumane!)

Well, thank god Andy you're still alive to tell your tale! I heard that a korean man kept on playing Starcraft for days straight! (he died)

Well, thank god! I personally think that becoming an indie game designer requires great discipline and dedication coz' you need to finish it!

What was your role? And why have you never said anything before? Be great to see anything you came up with! Your name in a games credits would be the icing on the cake.
