How important must you be for your murder to be an "assassination"

i also said that's how the general populace refers to it. i dont care what you think of the media, it's the conduit with which people get their news. and the news says it's an assassination. so people think assassination. period. i dont care if everyone got their news from a blubbering vagina on the face of a killer whale beached in south miami, if EVERYONE got their news from it and the blubbering whale vagina said "assassination" then it'd be considered "assassination" by the public at large!

It's NOT how the general populace uses a word that makes it correct.

Else I'd AKS you a question as opposed to going to ASK you a question.

If an answer is "mass populous says so" then 70% of the time you just lost your argument based on that.

I can go to a small town and have everyone think assassination is what happens when you die of a heart attack during anal sex, that doesn't make it correct, even if the mass population in the area started using the term defined as such.

so? the question is, how important must you be for your murder to be an assassination. that question relies on how the public sees you. so yes, in this case, popular opinion is the basis of assessment.

The post is a little broader than that.  It's not pulling a hypothetical, where you assume you HAVE to be a celebrity, it asks how famous do you have to be?  Not how famous do you have to be - assuming you have to be a celebrity of some degree.  There is no base minimum, therefore ZERO can be an answer.  Oh, btw it is.

And besides, here's my "so"
Out of 20 dicitonaries I just checked, guess how many of them have your definition above mine?  One.  That's right, and no I didn't pull the the one you pulled it from (that would just be cheap, so if you want instead counting the below as 19 to 1, you can count it as 19-2 if you throw yours in).
19 to 1.  Still going to argue the favor of the majority, despite that most masters of the art of English disagree with your definition?

i always looked at an assassination as the murder of someone who was a significant benefit to the rest of society; and not just how important you are. maybe this is because when i think 'assassination', i immediately associate it with JFK, abe lincoln, and MLK. :\
while i'm not too keen on history, and i dont know much of JFK, i can at least attest that abe lincoln and dr. king were both of great importance, and both greatly benefited the rest of the country!
