How do you get the screen to follow an object?

Ok, so I've spent yet an hour of my life to search for this kind of topic without any results. If there already is a thread like this, then excuse me for creating a new one.

Now, how do you get the screen to follow an object? Can you do that? I think I've actually played a game where you could so I guess so. Do you have to get a script for it or is there some kind of function that I've missed?

The thing is, you must at least have a 20x15 map, right? And I only want it to be like 6x4 or something so I figured out I needed this kind of function. Right now I'm going to use this for an intro, so it will follow another object than the player, but later I might want it to follow the player too.

Thanks for answers!

I'm sure there are several other ways to do this but I think the easiest, since you are talking about an intro...
The screen will automatically follow the "Player". So for the intro, just use the object char-set for the player,
and make the player an event. Then, switch the char_set back to the starting actor after the intro.

You can also use the "Scroll Map" event command. You'll just have to work out the timing between the Scroll Map
& the event you're moving.

Yeah, I thought of that too. But I also don't want all the room to be shown. It's just going to be like a man walking in a corridor or something so most of the room is just empty. I want the player to only see like 6x4 of the screen at once. And I also thought of making the rest of the screen black but then it would still be too big to follow him since he's only going to walk a bit.

God I'm being tedious. :P

There are plenty of scripts around that will put a small circle of light around the player and the rest of the screen is black.  So what Brewmeister said and change the player's charset to the event charset you want, then just switch back later.

Or you could just send the dang project to me and I'll just do it, cause I'm nice like that.
