How can I make text boxes that disappear automatically?

So I have a very simple issue here. I have a feeling that it is incredibly basic, but I searched a few times and apparently am using the completely wrong set of words to search with.

So here's the set up. I've got an event that starts up with the game where the character is automatically walking to the right very slowly. I want to have text appearing while this event is happening, but I want it to be a text box that appears for a few seconds, then disappears without the players input, because as of now the text box waiting for the player to hit enter is interrupting the automatically moving event...

Any simple solutions? (I'm sure there are tons)

Sorry for the n00by question, and thanks for the help.

No. No scripts, please. I want to do this with events if possible. I guess I should have stated this, but I did mention that I was using events. Any ways 'without' the use of scripts?

I have those two scripts in my script compilation folder. To be honest I don't really like the looks of them, so I'd rather not use them.

'If' the only way to do this is with scripts I'll probably just end up using pictures XD

Thanks for the suggestion though.

It depends on the script. In general, though, you type commands prefaced with a \ into the textbox.

So a command might look something like this:

Show Text: This box closes automatically.\%8
