Hey Look, a Yellow Name!

These are some old tiles of mine that I want to start working on again. I'd like a solid critique on what I have so far, especially in the case of the tree.

I'm not too big on trees myself. But here's your solid critique

1. Your small branches are too thick, and almost all the same length
2. Your small branches are parallel to each other, trees are not always so even
3. Your branches have no shading
4. Your tree's shadow does not match
5. The whole thing looks like multiple radio antennas sticking out of a brown uprising
6. And your small branches should be pointing more towards the end of the big branch like in this picture.

If you heed my advice, I would like to see your progress

That, and I would work on the shading of the tree a bit more, like giving it more of a tree bark feel and more contrast in the tones there. I guess it's a WIP so maybe that's why, so I would first work on the shape of it before you go shading it.

Looks good but I agree with Wyatt on most of the things he said. The 2 first tiles looks alot like some tiles from FF6, in Figaro Castle.

small decorations all look good. bigger rock may be too pixeled if you use VX. should be ok XP. think tree looks GOOD if meant to be in surreal type place. not ordinary at all. but starg has good advice if meant to be realistic. non tree tiles palette is great

ughhh I really can't pixel branches. Here's what I have so far, I'd like some help with how to do branches that come from the front rather than just the sides. Also general suggestions would help.

Don't worry about the texturing, I just want help with the lines right now.

first step.. recon!
We decide to go outside and find ourselves a tree. *or you can look at some pictures on the internet*

check this

then you decide which tree you want to draw and sketch it out. This may be done on paper, on your computer, on a blackboard on your brothers forehead etc.

after that create a good pallete.. * or steal someone elses*

when you finish these steps correctly I shall return my youngh padawan.

Alright, because of AGM's upcoming release I've decided to make a platformer. I've also taken the lazy route of taking these 3/4 tiles and using them in a side-view perspective.

So, does it work? What can I improve? What other objects should I include in this tileset?
