Hey guys!
I'm Dylan, and I'm brand new to the site! I am a composer/instrumentalist/producer and was recommended this site by a friend of mine because I'm looking to get involved with writing music for various games, which has been a dream of mine for years. I am currently in University in Tucson, Arizona, pursuing a degree in musical composition. While I really have no background in working on indie game projects or writing strictly for VGM and other game related media, I've been wanting to try forever being both a big fan of video games and VGM and wanting to contribute more with group centered projects. I also believe that my writing abilities could translate well for video game writing due to the fact that much of my musical inspiration growing up was from various video game scores/osts as well as the vivid and foreign settings many games create.
As for a bit of a reference, about six months ago I put out a record under my bansheebeat production alias, titled Spiral Power, which while mostly rooted in 90's IDM and various other primarily downtempo based electronic subgenres, takes many cues from many game soundtracks. As for my interests outside of music, I'm a big fan of games and anime. While I don't play all too many games anymore due to time restraints, I still try to tackle a solid amount of games each year despite my steadily increasing backlog haha. Some of my favorite games include Shadow of the Colossus, Final Fantasy VI, Persona 3, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and Okami, and a few of my favorite anime series include the Monogatari franchise, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and most of the works of Satoshi Kon, although I do watch at least a handful of series every new season (some of my 2013 favorites include Sasami-san@Ganbaranai, Kyousougiga, Little Witch Academia, and Railgun S2).
As for music outside of games I'm a big fan of a lot of more atmospheric and minimal electronic stuff, including future garage, minimal techno, and vaporwave, as well as more rock based genres like slowcore, older emo/hardcore/post hardcore, drone, and shoegazy stuff.
